Job Title: Senior Manager Engineering - Appliance, Performance Materials – Swindon, UK 


Job Overview
An exciting opportunity to join the Performance Materials business unit which is part of our Appliances BU. Performance materials requires a Senior Manager Engineering to lead our materials development, product growth, product sustaining and process development across our Performance Materials and Heat Shrink Portfolio. 


This individual will lead and develop a team of product, development, sustaining and manufacturing development engineers and qualification laboratories globally. The team is accountable for all aspects of material development, new product development, process development and sustaining of existing products and all associated qualifications. 


The Ideal applicant should be able to develop and motivate teams, drive collaboration at all levels, develop and execute strategic work force planning for the global team, implement efficient business processes, lead material science innovation that links to and builds our new product portfolio and platforms, manage the products  from concept thru the complete lifecycle, drive material productivity savings, continuous improvement, focused sustainability through materials, product, and manufacturing. 


The ideal candidate will be a resilient change champion with the energy to drive Material Science, NPD, continuous improvement, customer relationships and collaboration at all levels, ability to create focus and execution around all priorities. Previous Compounding, Heat shrink tubing or extrusion experience is preferred but not essential.


Job Responsibilities
•    Drive strategic focus for Material science development.
•    Lead global team responsible for new product development, sustaining life cycle engineering, laboratories, and manufacturing process development.
•    Own and generate technology roadmap. 
•    Drive a culture of innovation and implementation.
•    Participate and provide input to strategic planning.
•    Provide leadership to create focus on strategic priorities.
•    Drive a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and execution.
•    Ensure digital creation is developed and implemented.
•    Focus and implement a culture of change.
•    Drive effective collaboration through projects and alignment with key stake holders and functions.
•    Provide technical solutions, support, and interface to our customers internally and externally.


•    Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline; Material Science, Polymer Engineering or similar, or relevant experience. 
•    Minimum 10 years of professional experience. 
•    Minimum 3 years global managerial experience.


Key Requirements
•    The ideal candidate will hold previous experience within a similar position, ideally from an Aerospace, Automotive, Defense or Electronics background. 
•    Experience in leading and developing a global engineering team
•    Experience in strategic workforce planning and associated development planning
•    New product development or sustaining engineering experience preferred
•    Knowledge of associated manufacturing processes
•    Proactive approach to management for risk and uncertainty.
•    Adapt and make departures from traditional methods or approaches to develop innovative materials and products
•    Must be a strong leader, motivator and mentor.
•    Knowledge of customers, design to value, design for Six Sigma, Hoshin, LEAN manufacture and LEAN business processes is preferred.
•    Excellent verbal and written communication skills
•    Ability to communicate, collaborate, negotiate, and drive results.
•    Must be self-motivated, thrive on pace and rate of change, organized, with an ability to prioritise, set, achieve, and measure goals and drive continuous improvement and change within the team and the wider business
