Job Overview
Engineering Technician support within Product Engineering, covering AD&M products such as wire and cable, braiding, and tubing. Responsibilities include laboratory and qualification testing, ensuring compliance with company and industry standards, codes, and specifications. The role involves data analysis, report preparation, and maintaining calibration of test equipment. In addition to testing activities, the position requires processing support for extrusion, compounding, tape wrapping, and braiding.
Job Requirements
- Carry out visual, mechanical, and electrical inspection and testing of products at all stages of manufacture to support quality improvement, cost reduction, and obsolescence management.
- Provide technical support to customers and internal stakeholders, both on‑site and off‑site.
- Participate in training and development activities to maintain and enhance technical competency.
- Support the development and introduction of new products, technologies, techniques, and engineering practices.
- Demonstrate a clear understanding of the design intent and functional requirements of TE Connectivity products.
- Interpret and apply technical schematics, engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards to ensure product compliance.
- Develop and implement new testing methods in response to evolving technologies and product requirements.
- Prepare, maintain, and control project documentation, including process control documentation and Codes of Practice.
- Troubleshoot manufacturing and test issues, perform equipment calibration, and produce accurate technical reports.
- Provide process and equipment support for extrusion, compounding, and wire and cable manufacturing trials.
- Contribute to innovation and continuous improvement initiatives within Product Engineering and the wider business.
- Support laboratory management activities, as applicable.
- HNC / ONC, or Apprenticeship training in engineering or employer equivalent.
What your background should look like
- At least 2 years of experience in laboratory or qualification testing, or equivalent experience with processing equipment.
- Strong communication skills written and verbal
- Technical by nature and with a practical hands-on approach.
- Knowledge of quality control procedures, techniques and test methods.
- Know how to adjust/use test equipment (i.e., Tensometer, ovens, freezers, HV cage)
- Use of Microsoft Office, Outlook, Internet Explorer.
- High attention to detail in testing and processing activities.
- Ability to read all types of drawings or specifications.
