Manufacturing Process Engineer

Short Description

We are looking to increase our Manufacturing Process Engineering capacity in the Swindon VAP Team, enabling effective Product launches in our Swindon Harnessing / Raceway / MiniMRP facility.  There will be scope and expectation on this individual to collaborate with peers across the Design Engineering and the Production Teams.

The expectation is for the individual to be flexible and to have the ability to multi – task to support multiple projects / designs and activities, work to improve processes and to provide technical support to the Production Team.

You will work closely with the design team to ensure that all equipment (tooling and Mating halves) are in place ready for production launch, producing technical documentation to support the manufacturing process at point of launch, a strong understanding of document management and control is required.

Long Description

Key tasks of the job:

    Develops manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment; conferring with equipment vendors.
    Creation of manufacturing work instructions to support first article harness manufacture.
    Assures product and process quality is maintained.
    Improves manufacturing efficiency by analysing and planning work flow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
    8D problem solving
    Assessment of Customer Returns/Repairs
    Document management and control.
    Maintain and Support IPC 620/610 & J Standard certification (become the CIT for the group).
    Advanced Prototyping of First Article Harnesses
    Set up and operate production equipment in accordance with current good manufacturing practices and standard operating procedures
    Tooling and Mating Half identification for Harness Assembly Quotations
    Troubleshoot problems with equipment, devices, products and assembly issue.
    High levels of document control and revision management
    Risk Mitigation and Management

 

Skills

Qualifications & specialist training required:

    Engineering qualification or training to an appropriate standard.
    LEAN PD awareness.
    Harness / Raceway / MiniMRP Manufacturing Process awareness
    Computer literate
 

Experience required:

  • 3 years minimum experience in an Engineering related field.
  • 3 to 5 years working in a comparable industry
  • Harness manufacturing experience
  • Competent in all Microsoft Office applications.
  • Harnware use.
  • Harnmos and legacy systems knowledge
