Production Planning Supervisor in Supply Chain

Job Overview

The Supply Chain Planning Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing the factory's production planning team to ensure seamless operations and optimal utilization of resources. This role involves close collaboration with customers, leading the production planning process using SAP, and driving alignment between supply chain, production, and customer requirements.

Tasks and responsibilities

1. Leadership and Team Management:
•    Lead, mentor, and manage a team of production planners, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
•    Assign tasks and set priorities to meet production and customer delivery schedules.
•    Conduct regular performance reviews and provide training and development opportunities for team members.
2. Production Planning & Scheduling:
•    Develop and manage detailed production plans to optimize factory operations using SAP.
•    Monitor production schedules, addressing any discrepancies or delays, and adjust plans as needed to meet customer commitments.
•    Coordinate closely with production, procurement, and warehouse teams to ensure timely material availability.
3. Customer Engagement:
•    Attend customer meetings to understand and address their needs, forecasts, and concerns.
•    Communicate updates on production schedules, delivery timelines, and potential risks proactively to customers.
•    Build strong relationships with customers, ensuring high levels of satisfaction and collaboration.
4. SAP Utilization:
•    Use SAP to generate production schedules, monitor material requirements, and analyze capacity constraints.
•    Ensure the accuracy and integrity of data in SAP, such as bills of materials, routings, and production orders.
•    Troubleshoot SAP-related issues and work with IT or relevant departments to resolve them.
5. Continuous Improvement:
•    Identify inefficiencies in planning processes and propose actionable improvements.
•    Implement best practices in supply chain planning, leveraging SAP tools and other technologies.
•    Monitor KPIs such as on-time delivery, production lead times, and inventory levels, taking corrective action when needed.
6. Cross-Functional Collaboration:
•    Work closely with procurement, logistics, and quality teams to align supply chain activities with business goals.
•    Participate in S&OP (Sales and Operations Planning) meetings to synchronize demand and supply planning.
 

What your background should look like:

Qualifications:
•    Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations, or a related field.
•    Minimum of 5 years of experience in production planning, supply chain, or a related role within a manufacturing environment.
•    Demonstrated experience in team leadership or supervisory roles.
•    Proficiency in SAP Production Planning (PP) module and related supply chain functionalities.
•    Strong analytical , problem-solving, and organizational skills.
•    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with internal teams and external customers.
•    Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies is a plus.
