Here at TE Connectivity it is an exciting time to join our Site in Swindon. We are currently seeking a Senior Material Development Engineer to join our fast growing team in Appliances. You will be responsible for focusing on innovation and expanding product portfolios. 


You will be responsible for New Product Development for Heat Shrink Tubing Products. About the Role 

 

As a Senior Materials Development Engineer you will be responsible for all aspects of new product development, including obtaining voice of customer, new product concepts, new product development, and industrialization of the new product.


You will design simulation to optimize design for cost, quality and manufacturability Take responsibility for product development and qualification from market definition through production and release. Create Customer Relationships; Coordinates Technical Activities and Communications; Contributes to the Team Technical Roadmap.


Define, coordinate, and drive technical activities from a technical perspective. Regularly contributes to the technical roadmap of the Heat Shrink Tubing Team. 


You shall provide all required Product documentation including, but not limited to, Solid Model, 2D production drawings, product specifications and testing requirements. Submit all IP information to legal according to policy and prior to public disclosure. Lead global team responsible for new product development, sustaining life cycle engineering, labs and manufacturing process development


 
About You 

 

•    The ideal candidate will hold similar experience within a Materials Product Development role or similar. 
•    Preferably hold a Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline such as materials scientist or polymer chemist with relevant NPD experience. BS in Material Science or relevant experience preferred with a minimum of 6 years of professional experience; or master’s degree with 6 or more years of experience; or PhD level with 3 or more years of experience; or local equivalent.

•    Technical experience in materials development, ideally polymer processing methods including compounding and extrusion.
•    Knowledge of heat shrink tubing production or products would be of great benefit.
•    Demonstrates understanding of product development by integrating deep knowledge of theory and practical experience
•    Demonstrate understanding of design simulations. 
•    Develops solutions to problems of unusual complexity which require a high degree of ingenuity, creativity and innovation
•    Adapts and makes departures from traditional methods or approaches to develop innovative products
•    Knowledge of associated manufacturing processes a plus.
•    Proactive approach to design for cost, quality and manufacturability
•    Knowledge of Voice of Customer, Design to Value, Design for Six Sigma, LEAN Manufacturing and LEAN business processes is preferred
•    Must be self-motivated, organized, with the ability to prioritize, set and achieve goals and drive improvements in business processes for product development
