INTERN - PRODUCT MANAGEMENT ENGINEERING
Job Overview
Intern role to support the Wildlife and Asset Protection Product Management function with material science engineering, business and market research projects.
Start date: June/July 2021
Contract: 12 month fixed term
Site Location/Travel Requirements:
• TE Connectivity, Swindon, Faraday Road
o No foreign Travel
o Maybe need to travel to a UK trade show or factory visit (accompanied)
Role Responsibilities:
Technical Projects (~50%):
• Continuation of Competition Benchmarking
o OEM Switchgear Products
o Utility Insulation Enhancement Products
• Technical comparison of LVIT vs Competition LV tubes
• Test Report Status (global activity)
o List all valid customer facing reports
o Check dates, formulate re-test plan and implement where possible (5 year rule and TE accredited labs)
o Ensure consistent test methods
o Removal of PPS and Tech Spec replacement
• HV Test program (global value) – continuation of current work
o Collect and review all HV testing done so far
o By product: create test plan
o recommend product re-design based on “failure mode”
o Assist Customer VOC
Business Projects (~50%):
• Review Competition Websites
o Report on new products
o Accreditations
o Marketing strategy
• PCN Rationalisation program
o PCN clean up. To prevent “wrong” PFO. Saleable/NOT.
o Complete Discontinuance program
• Send samples
What your background should look like:
Education and Experience Required
Education:
• 3 or more A-Levels
• 2 years into Material Science, Chemistry, with Business Studies or Marketing Units degree course
• 2 years Electrical/Mechanical with Material Science, Business Studies Units degree course
