Job Overview

Monitors the execution of key strategic sourcing initiatives, negotiates contract terms and conditions and drives sourcing strategies to maximize cost savings.

Responsibilities and authority

•    Act as point of contact within his/her own Commodity expertise, cooperate with cross-functional groups.
•    Data Analysis for Key Performance Metrics 
•    Support in determining and optimizing internal standard works and processes of Procurement.
•    Control and manage long-term strategic supplier relationships as owner of the Commodity, escalates issues as needed to Procurement Mgmt.
•    Identify trends in his/her Commodity expertise to develop concepts; suggest recommendations for action (e.g., Observe and analyze the applicable procurement markets, etc.)
•    Support to solve Supplier issues such as Blocked Invoices, Supplier Compliance, Delivery, Supplier Quality, etc.
•    Support all quoting and sampling activities within the commodity.
•    Establish Regional communication channels with Regional BU leadership to understand commodity needs, service level requirements, and measures/communicates results.
•    Responsible for attaining annual business results (ex. cost savings, supplier performance and compliance) for responsible commodities, including developing and leading leverage price and terms negotiations with potential and current suppliers.
•    Request, compare and evaluate extensive bids, considering target price, quality, delivery performance and technology; conduct cost reduction actions according to Commodity Strategy and targets set.
•    Lead supplier negotiations and selection as requested by BU manager or global director.
•    Ensure lowest upfront cost and high supplier service in supplier selection via analysis of supplier data, financial, capacity and capability.
•    Work closely with other BU Commodity Managers in business unit or sub-vertical to ensure the sharing of best-practices and enhance negotiation leverage.
•    Provide strong support for all TE manufacturing plant(s) within region.
•    Provide valid and accurate inputs and commodity forecasts to TE’s suppliers.
•    Holds Voice of Customer Sessions with internal customers and utilizes feedback to improve team performance and supply base service.
•    Negotiate and load supplier agreements / contracts as required in TE receptacles.
•    Hold periodic business reviews with key/strategic suppliers to ensure TE metrics and directives are being achieved. Implement improvement plans and actions for poor performing suppliers.
•    Develop Supply Base consolidation or exit plans for low spend suppliers to increase TE leverage with key growth suppliers.
•    Carries out actions to reduce environmental impact, as well as activities for compliance with the ISO14001 standard.
•    Authority to stop a process in which there is the possibility of harming the environment or/and that is outside environmental legal compliance.

 

What your background should look like

Experience
•    Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, or related engineering discipline
•    MBA (Desired)
•    5-7 years’ experience in Procurement Roles.
•    Previous Commodity/Category Management/Strategic Sourcing Experience considered as a must.
•    Demonstrated leadership of a commodity, project team or direct reports is preferred.
•    5-7 years in the Automotive Industry 
•    Strong Knowledge, Procurement Processes.
•    Previous SAP experience or training a plus

 

Skills and Qualifications 
•    Fluent English. Strong communication skills both written and verbal.
•    Able to work well with international teams and individuals.
•    Strong analytical skills. Ability to analyze complex financial documentation and RFP submissions and make detailed reports and recommendations to management.
•    Negotiation skills
•    Organized and able to meet critical deadlines.
•    Ability for periodic travel required.
•    Proficient in MS office suite; advanced Excel, Power point
•    Knowledge applicable to the position in IATF 16949 and ISO 14001.
•    Knowledge of Safety and Environment Regulations and the environmental management system that apply to the company
