Job Overview
Staff Reliability & Testing (Quality & Reliability) Engineer
The Staff Reliability & Testing Engineer is a senior technical contributor ,7-10 years of experience in all aspects of reliability engineering for automotive electronic or mechatronics products from reliability estimation to reliability calculation and risk identification across the full product development lifecycle. This role requires deep expertise in reliability modeling, reliability testing, reliability calculating and failure analysis, as well as the ability to translate product characteristics and customer expectations into robust reliability strategies and validation plans.
Job Requirements
1. Deep Reliability Engineering Expertise
- Minimum 7-10 years of hands‑on experience in reliability engineering, covering:
- Reliability modeling and prediction
- Reliability strategy and planning
- Accelerated and destructive reliability testing
- Reliability failure analysis and corrective action
- Reliability calculations such as FIT, MTTF, MTBF
- Statistical analysis (e.g., Weibull analysis, chi‑square methods, basic Bayesian concepts)
- Strong ability to connect test data, field data, and engineering judgment to drive data‑based reliability decisions.
2. Reliability Strategy & Test Plan Ownership
- Independently define and lead end‑to‑end reliability strategies aligned with:
-
- Product architecture, materials, and operating environments
- Customer Reliability Requirements and mission profiles
- Industry standards and best practices
- Create and own reliability test plans (e.g., HALT, HAST, ALT, Test‑to‑Failure) that balance technical risk, development timelines, cost, and business impact.
3. New Product Development (NPI) Lifecycle Knowledge
- Strong understanding of structured new product development processes.
- Ability to tailor reliability activities to each development phase, including:
- Concept and feasibility
- Design verification
- Product validation
- Release to manufacturing
- Define appropriate test coverage, sample size, duration, and success criteria at each stage.
4. Cross‑Functional & Customer Engagement
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Effectively partner with customers to align on reliability expectations, test strategies, and risk assessments.
- Influence and collaborate with cross‑functional teams including:
- R&D / Design Engineering
- Manufacturing & Process Engineering
- Quality & Supplier Quality
- Product/Project Management
- Clearly communicate reliability risks, trade‑offs, test results, and recommendations to technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
What your background should look like
- Generally requires Bachelors degree in appropriate field with a minimum of 7-10 years of experience; Masters degree or higher or local equivalent may be preferred at this level.
- Deep experience driving reliability into hardware designs for data center platforms.
- Experience in life testing (HALT, HAST, ALT), modeled FIT/MTTF using Weibull and physics‑based models, owned DFMEA‑driven mitigation, and partnered with system and hyperscale customers on end‑to‑end reliability strategy particularly for backplanes, board‑to‑board connectors, high‑speed interconnects, cable assemblies, and PCBAs in data‑center or networking environments.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
