Job Description
ROLE OBJECTIVE
As a Staff R&D/Product DVL Engineer (FEA) in TE Connectivity’s Digital Data & Networks (DDN) Business Unit, you will contribute to our innovative R&D Product Development team within Mechanical Engineering, taking ownership of develop, build, validate, and optimize FEA models based on CAD data and material properties. Your work will directly influence product performance, manufacturability, and commercial success throughout the complete product lifecycle.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Establish comprehensive FEA methodology and standardized analysis procedures for electro-mechanical product development (antenna system).
- Define FEA workflow integration with existing design and validation processes across product lifecycles.
- Establish validation protocols to ensure FEA results correlation with physical testing and field performance.
- Develop and execute finite element analysis models for mechanical components and assemblies in antenna systems.
- Perform structural, thermal, vibration and fatigue analysis to validate antenna product designs against performance specifications.
- Prepare comprehensive technical reports documenting analysis methodology, results, and recommendations.
- Collaborate with PDE-mechanical design team to provide early-stage feasibility assessments and design guidance.
- Validate simulation results through correlation with physical test data and prototypes.
- Participate in design reviews and provide technical recommendations for design improvements.
- Investigate and resolve field failures through root cause analysis using FEA tools.
- Create and maintain FEA models, analysis procedures, and simulation databases.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, or a related Engineering discipline.
- At least 5 years of experience in FEA (finite element analysis), working experience on product development of Antenna, RF, COAX cable and connector is a plus.
- Proficient in Ansys simulation tools and FEA methodologies, specifically applied to electro-mechanical products, to support our product development and validation processes.
- Strong foundation in mechanical design fundamentals and manufacturing process knowledge across sheet metal forming, Plastic injection molding, die casting, machining operations, Rubber molding, and assembly methodologies.
- Understanding of electro-mechanical product compliance certification and associated qualification testing requirements.
- Demonstrated problem-solving and root cause analysis.
- Understanding of product lifecycle management (PLM) and new product development (NPD) processes. PDM Windchill experience will be added advantage.
