The Senior Director, Brand & External Comms will be responsible for leading global development and execution of the strategic and creative direction for the TE Connectivity brand reputation and will be focused on driving business growth and awareness, especially with strategic customer segments.  This leader will direct daily activities of marketing and communications personnel and oversee the company’s brand, reputation and supporting agency relationships.  The role will manage strategy, execution and talent needed to win with employees, customers and investors and strengthen the company’s ability to meet future growth objectives.

To be effective you must have proven success leading a brand and external communications organization within a complex company structure that demands a highly collaborative approach, be able to operate globally, influence and spark change/progress, work well in matrixed organizations, and be ready to drive a strategic vision for the future. The ideal candidate will be equal parts change agent, marketer and communicator and will thrive leading a global team of brand and communication professionals.

Core Responsibilities


  • Develop and implement a cohesive marketing messaging & media strategy to increase brand awareness and preference. Develop, implement and refresh (when needed) the company’s overall brand and image.
  • Establish creative guidelines and policies on brand, image and media management across all internal & external touchpoints.
  • Lead social media programs for both organic and paid media, including Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, Reddit, WeChat, TikToc 
  • Aid the capture of incremental growth opportunities by creating, executing and leading the campaigns for top strategic priorities, with clearly defined goals, objectives, strategies and tactics.
  • Oversee agency relationships and ensure effectiveness of media and creative production scope of work, campaign decisions, pre & post production, with internal & external launch processes.
  • Manage the established global brand tracker to optimize reputation performance of brand positioning, attributes, awareness, and competitive benchmarking.
  • Establish marketing goals and key performance indicators for the different products offered and analyze the impact and effectiveness of marketing campaigns.
  • Ensure that brand initiatives are woven into digital marketing’s execution through websites, social media properties, videos and ads.
  • Ensure the brand conveys one voice to all parties, providing strategic guidance to align messaging to all stakeholders.
  • Support content marketing and SEO optimization strategies across global websites in US, EMEA, APAC regions working closely with business units to optimize priority content.
  • Manage and develop a global team of motivated and experienced marketing leaders


  • Develop consistent messaging which reinforces TE commercial priorities. 
  • Promote TE major themes with innovative communication programs, such as:
    • Industrial Technology
    • Internet of Things (IoT)
    • Innovation
    • Engineering leadership
    • STEM
  • Oversee implementation of external communication plans through media relations, public relations, company awards & recognition.
  • Measure effectiveness of external communications through a variety of resources, metrics, and media share of voice SOV to report on campaign effectiveness.
  • Support annual Industrial Technology Index survey and reporting, establishing leadership reputation with major media publication placements.
  • Counsel executives on how best to drive communications strategy and increase executive visibility by identifying thought leadership opportunities for key executives and media training.
  • Executive Communications
    • Working in close collaboration with TE Chief Executive Officer Terrence R. Curtin, Chief Marketing Officers, Chief Financial Officer Heath Mitts and the Investor Relations team during earnings and key investor events.
    • Working with Marketing, HR and Agency partners for brand reputation management.
  • Global Crisis Management
    • Proactive and reactive communications planning as part of the Crisis Management Team
    • Identifying external crisis management/communications team
  • Team Management
    • Manage and develop a team of motivated and experienced communications leaders 
    • Agency management and Global Communicators Network internal comms leadership 
    • Influences of business unit and other TE functional communications

Skills and Requirements

  • 12+ years of brand and marketing management and/or corporate communications experience in a best-in-class global environment, preferably in technology industry
  • Experience in brand and communication processes for a global marketing operation.  The ideal candidate will have experience working in a complex B2B context (for a company with a hero brand identity).
  • Global management of communication programs, including creative and agency media vendor relationships
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Results-oriented with a track record for driving corporate communications efforts that have measurable business impact
  • Experience with C-level communications and engagement
  • Accomplished strategic communications leader with versatile ability to articulate
  • Preference will be given to candidates with experience working for brands that have changed due to new market entry or M&A activity.  He/she will be able to assist in setting new brand strategy, as well as transforming marketing materials and campaigns.
  • Ability to evaluate marketing investment and brand value in a quantitative fashion.
  • He/she will also understand the process related to establishment of trademarks and intellectual property.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.  Master’s degree preferred.
  • Effective communicator: A track record of presenting insights and related high priority topics to executives and peers. Comfortable with public speaking and facilitating large group sessions. Clear communicator with ability to simplify and effectively communicate complex concepts
  • Excellent collaboration skills working with internal and external stakeholders and across both business and technical teams.
