Job Overview
TE Connectivity (TE) is currently seeking a highly motivated engineer in R&D Development Engineering to provide engineering design, innovation, development, and implementation of new and improved additive manufacturing materials & processes. This growth opportunity will provide highly valued multiple business unit experience as well as developing advanced skills in hands on engineering, lean manufacturing, design for additive manufacturing and continuous improvement. As part of Corporate Technology Center supporting all business units and manufacturing sites, the candidate will work on high impact, high profile projects along with business unit and technology teams to deliver enhanced and transformative additive manufacturing capabilities for TE to drive optimized productivity and process performance to production level.
The Corporate Technology Center is a global team that provides material solutions, additive manufacturing/3D printing technologies as well as characterization/prototype services to all business units from TE. This position is with the additive manufacturing research & development team with responsibilities in Development Engineering supporting TE’s additive manufacturing needs as well as leveraging into the other areas including sustainability and effective AI usage. The interest and capability for safe hands-on engineering in laboratory and pilot manufacturing environments are expected. The full-time position will be located at TE’s Harrisburg, PA campus, with domestic and global travel at times.
Job Requirements
- The primary responsibility is to work with the corporate additive manufacturing team, suppliers, and our internal customers to develop, improve, and deploy 3D Printing technology covering metals, ceramics, and polymer technology.
- Be familiar with TE product portfolios, materials, designs, and performance requirements with strong CAD skills. Identify additive manufacturing production opportunities through technical verifications and financial justification.
- Plan and implement additive manufacturing materials. Develop materials in-house or with key suppliers, characterize performance, deploy, and refine for manufacturability.
- Innovate, optimize, and develop deployable 3D printing materials, process solutions, and equipment for production needs through scientific engineering methodologies like Design of Experiment.
- Must have a good attitude and willingness to do more than asked and work collaboratively within a team environment.
- Keep learning about the latest materials technologies in additive manufacturing and sustainability. Lead the introduction of new materials/technologies into TE applications where they can bring value in terms of reliability, efficiency, safety, or cost-benefit.
- Working with intellectual property (IP) and legal teams to innovate and to strengthen TE IP strategies and portfolios in Additive Manufacturing Production.
What your background should look like
Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in engineering background including Mechanical, Materials, Metallurgical Engineering, or equivalent 3-5 years’ experience with Master's degree.
Preferred candidate will have familiarity with:
Material development, property, and characterization knowledge.
3D printing material, software, and processing technology.
Mechanical 3D modeling, 2D drawing, and GD&T Y14.5. CREO or SolidWorks preferred.
Operations experience including Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing training, and continuous improvement mindset preferred.
Product development and characterization experience including Failure Modes and Effects Analysis
The candidate should also:
Be solution-focused with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Learn quickly and effectively to evaluate/adopt new technologies in the market.
Have good commercial and business acumen skills with experience in analyzing and benchmarking different materials/process technologies and capabilities on the market.
Excellent communication skills and teamwork are essential since this role has tremendous opportunity to collaborate with our internal material experts, printing experts, shop, internal customers, and suppliers frequently.

COMPENSATION
• Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $115,400– $173,100 (subject to change dependent on physical location)
• Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. TE Connectivity reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
• Total Compensation = Base Salary + Incentive(s) + Benefits
