Job Overview

The Aerospace, Defense, and Marine Business Unit of TE Connectivity is currently seeking a highly motivated, focused and energetic Program Manager to join our team at remote location preferred city close to major airport.  This position will report directly to the Sr. Director of Operations.

This role is responsible for managing and directing manufacturing and process improvement programs that leverage both innovation and the deployment of Best Known Methods to develop and deploy leading edge manufacturing processes to our site(s).  These processes must be capable of safely producing defect-free product in a Lean Manufacturing environment and must also support the site and BU’s initiatives for TEOA (Lean) and Digital Factory.  The successful candidate will have a history of successful product and process launches and be capable of leading change and producing documented improvements in plant costs, quality, and delivery.

 

This role will be the focal point for manufacturing engineering process and technology expertise across the global enterprise and will partner with the Site and BU Leadership teams to ensure high impact programs are being managed for on-time and on-budget deployment to achieve the BU’s monthly, quarterly and annual operational and financial expectations.

Job Requirements

  • Assume the lead role in working in close alignment with the manufacturing Centers of Excellence and the BU Operations to deliver cohesive, aligned manufacturing processes and projects
  • Drive the global business towards disciplined and rigorous manufacturing processes that provide appropriate standardization, utilizing best-in-class methodologies.
  • Lead safety and process improvement projects and facilitate team projects and mentor team members who are leading process improvement projects
  • Build strong and positive working relationships with all functional areas.
  • Foster the adoption of continuous improvement, TEOA concepts as a way life; creating a culture of change.
  • Guide the analysis of existing methods to promote effective operations through standardization, improvement, simplification, or discontinuance.
  • Develop recommendations for business processes that ensure alignment with strategic direction; integrate business processes between multiple organizations. 
  • Apply advanced skills to resolve complex problems not covered by existing procedures or practices independently, foot print activities, end to end supply chain optimization activities.
  • Display a high level of critical thinking in bringing successful resolution to high–impact, complex and /or cross-functional problems.
  • Develop and utilize current and future state value stream maps to identify strategic projects and implementation plans aligned with the Site’s strategic direction.
  • Identification and leverage of best practices across the entire TE operation.
  • Drive to world class manufacturing across multiple sites, so as to support the TE and AT business strategy by providing the leadership, skills, and managerial support to win in the marketplace
  • Ensure the economic application of TE’s new advanced manufacturing technology on the shop floor
  • Ensure that the manufacturing processes are re-configurable; a key component of this role will be to define modularity and flexibility in manufacturing processes
  • Continually monitor processes, technology, market trends, and TE business strategies to seek new manufacturing process opportunities for AD&M.
  • Responsible for creating and executing a vision, mission, and strategic policy deployment plan to cost effectively leverage the engineering resources, whether from inside or outside the company, across a broad range of businesses, in order to help TE utilize best in class processes in product development and manufacturing operations.

What your background should look like

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Business preferred
  • At least 15 years of Manufacturing/Operation experience involved in the definition and application of new manufacturing processes and methodologies to drive supply chain value optimization and the introduction of manufacturing process improvements that support business strategy
  • At least 10 years of manufacturing operations experience with a broad and deep knowledge of manufacturing technologies and manufacturing best practices.
  • Strong experience in Engineering/Integration, and Manufacturing Operations
  • Experience in identifying and deploying flexible and reconfigurable manufacturing processes
  • Experience in developing, evaluating and improving manufacturing processes, product design, product development and product commercialization processes
  • Successful hands on experience in managing and working with professionals in all phases of product development, quality, manufacturing engineering, and supply chain functions to deliver profitable products to market
  • Ability to build instant credibility and communicate effectively among engineering professionals, business leaders, manufacturing shop floor leaders, and supply chain professionals.  It is essential that this leader have the ability to work closely with engineers and cross functional teams across the supply chain to improve the speed, quality and delivery of superior products to market
  • Strong customer service mindset and mentality of delivering quality products and services on time and within company cost and profitability objectives
  • A history of leading change and producing documented improvements in plant costs and quality
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal along with coaching skills at all levels from the shop floor to top management (Strong team leader).
  • Ability to think strategically and execute tactically (i.e. deliver results)
  • Ability to effectively and efficiently lead cross functionally as well as with suppliers and customers.
  • Working knowledge of the Application Tooling manufacturing processes
  • Analytically minded and data-driven. The candidate must also have a holistic overview of complex situations and deal effectively with difficult issues when they arise.
  • Proficiency in standard reporting/presentation and data analysis tools,
  • Experience in the aerospace or automotive industry is a plus, but not a prerequisite. 
  • Strong competency as a process improvement practitioner: Lean, 6σ and/or Theory of Constraints
  • Certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP) or Program Management Professional (PgMP) strongly preferred
  • Strong familiarity with Gantt charting, critical path method, resource/risk management
  • Travel: 30%- TE Facilities in MEXICO, CALIFORNIA AND UK

COMPENSATION
•    Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $190,800 - $250,000 (subject to change dependent on physical location)
•    Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. TE Connectivity reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
•    Total Compensation = Base Salary + Incentive(s) + Benefits
