Job Requirements

Key Activities

  • Apply advanced technical knowledge to the design, construction, and sourcing of mold tooling to meet defined quality, cost, and production requirements.
  • Contribute to the evaluation, introduction, and implementation of new molding technologies within the manufacturing footprint.
  • Act as a technical subject matter expert, providing guidance on complex molding-related topics including processing, tooling, materials, quality, and capacity challenges, both internally and with external partners.
  • Support and coordinate enterprise-wide molding excellence initiatives and continuous improvement activities, recommending and implementing best practices across the organization.
  • Utilize data-driven problem-solving methodologies such as Six Sigma, DMAIC, 8D, or similar approaches to identify root causes of molding issues and implement sustainable solutions that improve process capability.
  • Support the deployment of operational excellence and standardized manufacturing foundations within the molding environment.
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain and Procurement teams to source molded components and support the external manufacturing and supplier base as required.
  • Partner closely with Product Development Engineering to ensure designs meet cost targets and follow design-for-manufacturability principles.
  • Provide molding expertise to assigned new product development projects, ensuring key milestones and deliverables are met according to project timelines, including mold qualification and transfer to production.
  • Ensure proper documentation of molding processes, tooling, and standards within applicable internal systems.
  • Participate in and, when appropriate, lead FMEA reviews related to molding processes and tooling.

 

What your background should look like

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Molding Engineering, Polymer Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field, with demonstrated specialized experience in molding processes. An advanced degree is a plus.
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience working within a molding-focused engineering or manufacturing environment.
  • Advanced level of English (written and verbal).
  • Strong technical expertise in mold processing and tooling design for thermoplastics, thermosets, and silicones. Experience with engineered resins is desirable.
  • Proficiency in the use of Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools and mold flow simulation software to support tooling and design reviews.
  • Experience in low-volume, high-mix manufacturing environments is preferred.
  • Exposure to molding applications for highly regulated industries (e.g., aerospace, defense) is a plus.
  • Certification or training in Lean or Design for Six Sigma (Green Belt or Black Belt) preferred but not required.
  • Proficiency in standard office software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Familiarity with statistical analysis tools such as JMP or Minitab is advantageous.
  • Solid project management and cross-functional collaboration skills.
