Job Overview
Responsibilities
Strategy and Portfolio Leadership
- Develop and execute the mid- to long-term strategy for assigned VAP/Backshells product families, including market segmentation, target applications, customer priorities, competitive positioning, technology needs, and investment choices.
- Build and maintain product and technology roadmaps aligned with customer requirements, market trends, manufacturing capabilities, and the broader Connectors strategy.
- Own portfolio lifecycle management, including product vitality, platform leverage, rationalization, obsolescence, and resource allocation decisions.
- Develop value propositions, pricing strategies, and go-to-market plans that improve market position, revenue growth, gross margin, and return on investment.
- Identify portfolio gaps and recommend organic development, partnership, sourcing, or other capability-building actions.
Growth, Customer, and Commercial Execution
- Partner with Sales and regional teams to develop strong relationships with strategic customers, understand application requirements, identify design-in opportunities, and convert the opportunity pipeline.
- Translate portfolio strategy and roadmaps into tactical growth plans with clear priorities, owners, milestones, and financial outcomes.
- Lead product launch planning and execution, including market preparation, pricing, sales enablement, channel readiness, and post-launch performance management.
- Monitor market, customer, competitor, technology, and industry-standard developments and adjust portfolio priorities accordingly.
- Build commercial and technical capability across the Sales organization and distribution channel for assigned product families.
Innovation and New Product Development
- Maintain a strong, customer-backed new product and opportunity pipeline and drive cross-functional accountability for on-time execution.
- Partner with Engineering to define differentiated product platforms and application solutions that address emerging customer and market needs.
- Develop robust business cases for new products, customer-specific opportunities, and portfolio investments, including revenue, margin, cost, risk, capacity, and resource requirements.
- Apply disciplined portfolio and project governance to prioritize the highest-value opportunities and address execution risks early.
Financial and Operational Performance
- Own revenue, growth, gross margin, standard cost, and operating performance for assigned portfolios in partnership with Finance and cross-functional leaders.
- Provide demand and portfolio insights to support SIOP, capacity planning, supply continuity, inventory, and customer delivery performance.
- Drive product cost, mix, pricing, localization, lead-time, and operational improvement actions that strengthen portfolio profitability and competitiveness.
- Support VAP/Backshells footprint execution across EMEA and India by aligning product strategy, customer demand, capability, capacity, and investment priorities.
- Establish operating metrics, review performance, and lead corrective actions to close gaps against annual and long-range plans.

- Delivers a clear, actionable VAP/Backshells portfolio strategy and roadmap with defined customer, technology, growth, and investment priorities.
- Achieves agreed revenue, growth, gross margin, launch, and portfolio performance objectives.
- Builds a healthy customer opportunity and NPD pipeline with disciplined prioritization and on-time execution.
- Improves portfolio vitality, profitability, supply performance, and alignment between demand, capacity, and footprint plans.
- Develops a capable product management team with clear accountability and succession coverage.
What Your Background Should Look Like
- 7+ years of progressive experience in product management, business development, engineering, strategy, or related commercial roles, including meaningful product management leadership experience.
- Experience in connectors, cable assemblies, harnessing, backshells, aerospace and defense, industrial technology, or another engineered-components environment is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and execute product strategies, roadmaps, pricing, go-to-market plans, NPD portfolios, and lifecycle actions.
- Strong commercial and financial acumen, including revenue and margin management, forecasting, business cases, cost and mix analysis, and investment prioritization.
- Experience leading cross-functional and cross-regional teams involving Sales, Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Finance, and Marketing.
- Demonstrated customer engagement and influencing skills, including the ability to translate technical and application needs into portfolio priorities.
- Proven ability to lead and develop teams in a global, matrixed, and fast-paced environment.
- Clear strategic thinking combined with strong execution discipline, analytical capability, and communication skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Marketing, or a related field required; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally based on business and customer needs.
