At TE, you will unleash your potential working with people from diverse backgrounds and industries to create a safer, sustainable and more connected world.
Job Overview
As the Senior Manager Operations at TE Connectivity, you will help lead a regional productivity initiative, driving lean manufacturing and operational excellence across a network of approximately 8–9 facilities within our segment (ICT, Automotive, and Sensors). In this highly visible, hands-on role, you will identify and execute opportunities to improve productivity and manufacturing performance on the shop floor—focusing on practical, sustainable lean implementation rather than theory. You will influence and align stakeholders across sites and functions in a matrix environment, delivering results without direct people management, while partnering closely with plant and operations leaders to accelerate improvements. This role is expected to include meaningful travel (approximately 25–50%), with primary focus in North America and potential exposure to Europe, and offers a strong platform for continued growth and expanded leadership opportunities within TE.
Job Requirements
- Lead the North America Productivity Leadership initiative by identifying, prioritizing, and driving operational productivity improvements across approximately 8–9 manufacturing facilities, with occasional engagement supporting Europe.
- Champion hands-on Lean manufacturing across the shop floor—deploying practical methods and routines that improve throughput, reduce waste, and accelerate execution in high-volume, high-capacity manufacturing environments.
- Partner with site leaders and cross-functional teams to uncover and deliver opportunities in cycle time reduction, changeover optimization, layout/material flow improvements, labor efficiency, and overall conversion productivity.
- Influence and align stakeholders in a matrix organization to standardize best practices, sustain continuous improvement, and embed a culture of operational excellence without direct people management responsibility.
- Lead multi-site improvement projects end-to-end, including scoping, business case development, implementation planning, and measurement of results—ensuring consistency and sustainability of gains.
- Communicate progress, roadblocks, and outcomes clearly to senior leadership and site teams, while traveling regularly (approximately 25–50%) to drive execution and adoption at the plants.
What your background should look like
- Extensive experience in operations, manufacturing, and/or industrial engineering with a strong track record of delivering productivity improvement in high-volume, precision manufacturing environments.
- Deep, hands-on Lean manufacturing expertise (not just theory), with demonstrated success leading shop-floor problem solving, standard work, waste elimination, and sustainable continuous improvement.
- Champion hands-on Lean manufacturing across the shop floor—deploying practical methods and routines by leading workshops and transformations that improve throughput, reduce waste, and accelerate execution in high-volume, high-capacity manufacturing environments.
- Proven ability to influence and drive change across multiple plants and cross-functional stakeholders in a matrix organization—building alignment without direct authority.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, able to clearly present opportunities, actions, and results to senior leaders and site teams.
- Solid program/project leadership experience, including translating strategy into executable roadmaps, prioritizing multiple initiatives, and driving consistent execution across 8 to 9 facilities.
- Comfort operating independently in a highly visible role, with willingness to travel regularly (approximately 25–50%) across North America, with occasional exposure to Europe.
What you will need
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical, or related) or equivalent practical experience in manufacturing/operations.
- Significant experience leading productivity and continuous improvement in high-volume manufacturing environments (typically 10+ years), with strong, hands-on shop-floor engagement.
- Deep working knowledge of Lean manufacturing tools and methods (e.g., value stream mapping, standard work, Kaizen, 5S, SMED) and a track record of delivering measurable productivity gains.
- Experience identifying and executing opportunities to improve OEE, throughput, labor efficiency, and conversion cost across manufacturing operations.
- Strong project leadership and execution skills, including building implementation plans, managing multiple priorities, and driving results in a matrix organization without direct authority.
- Effective communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence leaders and teams across multiple sites and functions.
- Comfort operating across diverse manufacturing processes and technologies, with the ability to assess operations, diagnose constraints, and translate findings into actionable improvements.
- Willingness and ability to travel regularly (approximately 25–50%) across North America, with potential engagement in Europe as needed.
- Self-directed, resilient, and adaptable working style—able to operate independently with minimal guidance and pivot quickly as priorities evolve.
