Job Overview

TE Connectivity's Manufacturing and Process Development Engineering Teams significantly impact LEANPD driven new product development projects, driving for excellence in existing manufacturing technologies and methods and striving to implement new manufacturing technologies to provide improved process and tolerance control. They act as the binding element between product development and manufacturing engineering, ensuring the effectiveness and efficiency of this critical interface. They support Product Development in the optimization of designs and piece parts for manufacturability by realizing sample tooling/products/prototypes. They also design, develop, and qualify tooling and processes to meet TE quality and production standards, document all processes and tooling in applicable TE systems, support supply chain to verify supplier compliance and capability, initiate and implement programs to continuously improve quality, cost and cycle time and adhere to all appropriate specifications, regulatory requirements and customer requirements.

What your background should look like:

Key Responsibilities:
- “Manufacturing Development”
- Develops an optimal mass-production Manufacturing Plan for LEANPD NPI projects based on Relay´s existing Process- and Automation-Platform, product concepts and marketing data
- Develops the overall technical base-data for product-cost- and investment-calculations and for cost comparison of different manufacturing variants and automation levels
- Ensures proper use of processes in production equipment by Process-FMEA´s
- Creates target specs for sourcing relay manufacturing equipment (tools and assembly equipment/machinery)
- Develops manufacturing processes for specific projects
- Represents MDE in Core Teams for LeanPD NPI projects (= coordinator for MDE topics within Core Teams) and acts there as the key person for Manufacturing Technology
- Ensures new processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations
- Solves new product-/new process-production problems

- “Process Technology”
- Develops and further extends the Relay Manufacturing Technology Process Platform
- Benchmarking of existing processes
- Standardization of existing processes and development of new relay production processes (= „Process Plattforming“)
- Ensures that products are designed for optimal manufacturability in cooperation with product development teams (= DFM)
- Ensures proper use of existing platform processes in production equipment (assembly lines, machines, molds, dies,…) by creating equipment target-specs. and obligatory equipment concept- and design-approvals

- “Automation Technology”
- Supports global Standardization of Relay Automation Technologies by implementing and further developing TE Relay´s existing Automation Platform
- Ensures proper use of existing Automation platform-technologies and –elements in new production equipment (assembly lines, machines,…) by creating equipment target-specs. and obligatory equipment concept- and design-approvals
- Supports the further development and extension of the existing Automation Platform

- “Sampleshop”
- Manages sourcing and production of product models and samples for product development projects
- Development and sourcing of sample-production equipment and parts
- Win Know-How out of sample-production and transfer to mass-production planning

- “Project Management”
- Leads and Manages assigned projects
- Coordinates overall equipment execution for LEANPD projects
- Responsible for the completion of assigned engineering projects within budgetary and scheduling guidelines
- Prepares project schedules and project plans
- Organizes and conducts regular project reviews, meetings and prepares meeting minutes

- “Funcional Management and Leadership”
- Leads and Manages a small local Manufacturing Development Engineering team
Other Duties / Requirements:
- Ensures frequent communication to EMEA Manufacturing Development Engineering Team
- Ensures that all requested EHS Requirements and Regulations are maintained, fully understood and complied with
- Compliance with TE policies
- Activity- and Time-Reporting
