Lead the engineering function for Panel & Relay Solutions Sub Vertical in China, driving innovation, product development, manufacturing excellence, and technical innovation to support the "Grow in China" initiative. This role serves as the critical technical bridge between global engineering teams and local commercial functions, ensuring products meet Chinese market requirements while maintaining global standards.

Job Requirements

Product Development Leadership (40%)

• Lead design and development of contactors and high power relays for new energy applications (EV charging, renewable energy systems, energy storage)
• Own Product Requirements Definition (PRD) development and Design Failure Modes & Effects Analysis (DFMEA) processes TEC-407-520-TESS
• Drive product design specifications based on Voice of Customer (VoC) and competitive analysis
• Guide products through verification and qualification testing phases
• Establish products in central part registry and associated systems

Cross-Functional Collaboration (30%)

• Partner closely with MDE engineers on manufacturing process development and Design for Manufacturing (DFM) optimization 102-123227-DND
• Collaborate with Product Managers on market requirements translation and product roadmap development
• Lead Model Shop for prototype builds, cost projections, and production readiness
• Interface with plant operations for NPI introduction
• Lead simulation activities
• Lead BTI process for New Energy and execute Leaps
• Support tooling specifications and costing activities with manufacturing teams
• Coordinate with testing & GAA teams work on NPI
• Coordinate with Quality Engineering teams on APQP and validation processes

Organizational Connectivity (20%)

• Participate in global engineering councils and technology transfer initiatives
• Facilitate knowledge sharing and best practice implementation across geographic boundaries
• Support intellectual property capture and protection activities with legal teams
• Drive alignment on global product platforms while addressing regional market needs

Technical Excellence & Innovation (10%)

• Drive new technology development for high-power switching applications
• Lead competitive analysis and technology benchmarking activities
• Ensure compliance with industry standards (IEC, UL) for new energy applications
• Mentor junior engineers and foster technical excellence within the team

What your background should look like

Education & Core Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical field
• 8+ years of experience in electrical components or power distribution equipment
• 3+ years of hands-on experience with AC and/or DC contactors (design, testing, or application engineering)
• 5+ years of people management experience leading engineering teams

Essential Technical Skills

• Working knowledge of contactor design principles (magnetic circuits, contact materials, etc.)
• Understanding of key electrical standards (IEC 60947, GB 14048, or UL 508)
• Proficiency in basic CAD software and electrical simulation tools

• Cross-functional collaboration: Proven ability to work effectively across departments (Sales, Marketing, Manufacturing, Quality) and influence without direct authority
• Cross-cultural communication: Excellent communication skills in both Mandarin and English, with demonstrated ability to bridge cultural differences between global and local teams
• Matrix organization experience: Success working in complex organizational structures with multiple stakeholders across different countries and time zones
• Adaptability: Ability to balance global standards with local market requirements and navigate ambiguous situations
