Job Overview

TE Connectivity’s Software Systems Engineering Teams provide functional and empirical analysis related to the design, development, and implementation of software operating/automation systems, including, but not limited to, utility, development, and diagnostic software. They perform technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost, risk, supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems.

TE Connectivity's Application Tooling Business Unit has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated software engineer who can create immediate technological and business impact. You will interface directly with potential and existing customers as well as TE colleagues around the world designing, quoting, building and supporting the software needed to allow our products to interface to our customers’ MES solutions and machines. 
 
Job Responsibilities:
•    Responsible for all phases of the development process, from requirement collection, concept, design, quotation, release and support
•    Interact with customers, vendors, field service, sales and other engineering functions regularly
•    Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
•    Ability to travel to support solutions in the field

Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electro-Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering OR 
•Demonstrated skills in these fields acquired through a more traditional MES or Machine to Machine System Integration role.
• Proficient oral and written English. 
• Stellar communication and presentation skills
• Ability to deal with ambiguity and able to provide overviews of complex topics and systems
• Ability to rapidly develop prototypes and test concepts in code
• Understanding of security and machine safety best practices
• Debugging hardware, software and interacting with other engineering disciplines
• Working in a team with superior time management skills

Should Have Exposure, Demonstrated Experience or Desire to Learn the Following
• MES protocols: Including but not limited to:  MQTT, OPC-UA, IPC-CFX
• Commercial MES solutions
•Connection of and communication among devices on a wired or wireless Local Area Network – including a thorough understanding of topology, terminology, interface setup, management and troubleshooting
•Linux and Windows Operating Systems – especially usage of shell scripts, utilities, SSH, and the ability to use the terminal
• Languages including but not limited to Python, C++, JavaScript, C, Linux shell scripts
• Interfacing to other hardware via discrete I/O, serial, Ethernet, Fieldbus
• Node.js JavaScript runtime
• Software revision control practices using Git/GitLab and continuous integration practices
• HMI/UI architecture and design using Qt or Angular
• Virtualization using Docker, VMWare, VirtualBox
• Software packaging/distribution
• Development of custom operating system images
• Computer Vision techniques and practice – especially using OpenCV
• Microcontrollers and microprocessors and associated firmware development
