Tasks Summary & Responsibilities
Function as the technical expert between product and development / maintenance engineering, purchasing, quality, suppliers in the framework of ECE (extraordinary customer experience).
Work closely with TE Business Units to ensure the sharing of best-practices and aligning on a metals technical roadmap/platform to ensure usage of materials which enhance the BU growth strategy and localization of suppliers.
Implement TE sustainability requirements at supply base and coordination of TE internal sustainability activities
Identify and implement cost saving opportunities through VAVE and OMP activities and support strategic negotiations from the technical side.
Support material selection in new product development programs. Coordinate qualification efforts for localization projects in working with the CL Metals commercial personnel
Define and analyze metallurgical and surface requirements for materials
Drive metal standardization and platforming, train personal and ensure compliance.
Development of supplier materials in Asia Pacific, to insure capacity fulfilment, quality materials and localization efforts. This also includes analysis and costing of new materials
Participation as metals matter expert in Center of Excellence groups across TE in the areas of stamping metal forming and plating.
Support on compliance as the metals subject matter expert (Lead free approach, Reach, ROHS, Conflict Minerals, etc.) and interface between; TE Law Department, Purchasing Compliance, TE Compliance, customers, BU’s and Suppliers.
Maintain and approve TE’s materials selection database (GMSS) and work with IS to foster enhancements which will make the application more valuable to engineers and their material selections as well as reduction in tactical work.
Support transferring none-corporate PN’s into standards and Update / Create specifications
Visitations to Asia Pacific supplier facilities, TE engineering centers and TE plants on a regular basis
Lead regular meetings on TEBIT projects in the Asia Pacific region and report status
Requirements:
Expertise in metal strip, wire or rod manufacturing would be beneficial
A metals processing based background with experience in engineered materials (e.g. plating, stamping, screw machining) is preferred. Experience in connector design is also desirable.
Fluency in English and the ability to work with multi-cultural and cross discipline groups
Motivated employee who is not afraid to challenge company "norms" and push for change.
Must work well in international teams with members from a wide array of functional backgrounds.
Special Qualifications, Knowledge & Skills
Background in SPC and 6 sigma practices. Ability to speak in front of large audiences with good presentation skills
Strong leadership skills to drive projects and motivate people
Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word is a requirement
Experience in ISO/QS auditing and 8D corrective action procedures
Project management skills to drive results
SAP knowledge and reporting is a plus
