STAFF R&D/PRODUCT DVL ENGINEER

Job Overview

TE Connectivity’s R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams conceive original ideas for new products, introduce them into practice. They are responsible for product development, and qualification from market definition through production and release; assist in the qualification of suppliers for new products to ensure suppliers deliver quality parts, materials, and services for new or improved manufacturing processes; conduct feasibility studies, testing on new and modified designs; direct and support detailed design, testing, prototype fabrication and manufacturing ramp. The R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams provide all required product documentation including, but not limited to, Solid Model, 2D/3D production drawings, product specifications, and testing requirements. They create and modify detailed drawings and drafting or conceptual models from layouts, rough sketches or notes and contribute to design modifications to facilitate manufacturing operation or quality of product. Typical fields of expertise include: materials, mechanics and systems, electrical, optics, chemistry, software, automation systems, packaging, testing and measurement, and manufacturing of electrical, mechanical and electronic components, products, and their integration into systems.

What your background should look like:

Strategy
•         Along with TE strategy deployment on 3D Printing and material application to research the opportunities to compete market occupation and attainment from FY22 and Overcome bottleneck technology of prototype and Low volume production in Asia AM. 
•         As unique AM center in Asia to support CS  priorities for FY22 on 3D Printing commercialization and performance materials acceleration
Execution
•         Enable Shanghai test lab maintain daily work in good working order and support all BUs 3D Printing test application and achieving few days schedule of L/T (<4 days) to getting the 3D printing samples to expedite product development.
•         Improving ECE since 5 printers (SLA/Figure 4/MJP/FDM/Carbon) at TE Shanghai only depends on 1 engineer operate cannot breakthrough new 3D printing technology development and application as agile response to customer needs and Forecast 15% increase of 3D Printing requests received from FY22 since 3D Printing technology expanding in TE.
•        Growing shanghai test laboratory by add capabilities and competency from Carbon 3D Printer application, which is the latest professional equipment invested at TE shanghai to support all BUs dig into 3D Printing area and trends to fill gap of 1200h for normal prototype requests every year and pick up low volume production requests per applicable requirements from past  collection analysis, also could saving $30K at least per year for external.
•        Bridge with US AM Center and material center to cover 3D Printing requests in shanghai lab because it is in considering the assessment were got that it plague series projects continued due to the cost happened in US would higher.
•       Creating the platform between material suppliers and TE lab for developing improvement proposals for series projects and provide trial certification.
•       Support shanghai lab self needs on fixtures which used in mechanical, electrical, environmental, or other reliability and assist recycling. Saving the total cost approx. $45k per year.

•       Strengthen shanghai test lab staffs to own 3D Printing new technology and deeper material knowledge to match actual needs and promote talent development
•       Maintain and drive the continuous improvements of delegated tasks and programs within the organization that result in lab performance improvements, effective problem solving and timely decision making.
