Leads technical domain of singe/ multiple strategic development projects from initial ideation to final production.

Job Requirements

ROLE OBJECTIVE

This role is a technical role and as such requires technical expertise and the ability to approve or consult to derive appropriate technical actions and decisions. This role also requires technical expertise in HV product development and life cycle engineering such that projects from scratch to production are handled independently.

RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Provide technical authority and guidance for all High Voltage Rail products systems and services.
2. Support the technology road map of Roofline engineering as a key technical lead in development projects
3. Ensure all technical requirements are defined, met and authorised in line with internal, customer, end user and international standards.
4. Work with Customer in generating winning concepts thereby generating New Product Streams
5. Technical execution for design, development, qualification, and product release
6. Independently handle multiple Engineering development projects from Sketch to Production
7. Lead and conduct to product design and development activities such as:

• Voice of Customer
• Product requirement documentation
• DFMEA
• FEA Simulations – Thermal, Mechanical and Electrical
• Product Specifications
• Qualification Requirements & Planning: Internal and to Rail Standard
• Product Qualification and Verification Review
• Operating Manuals
• Design Reviews
• Signoff on Qualification test reports

8. Customer technical liaison to support both post-sale in-service products and new projects.
9. Lead structured fault diagnosis & analysis of field failure of various components. Recommend actions
10. Working in solid modelling and mechanical drawing using CREO Pro/E and PDMLink product data management software.
11. Preparation of detailed drawings for manufacturing.
12. Support manufacturing during pilot run of new products.

EDUCATION/KNOWLEDGE

• Bachelor or above in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering with 10+ years of experience
• Minimum 6yrs preferably 8yrs product development experienced in High Voltage (15 to 50kV) transmission cables, assemblies and accessories, Switchgear, Surge arrestors, or systems. Rail High Voltage systems experience would be highly desirable. Alternatively experience in utilities power transmission and switching equipment applications can be considered
• Proven track record of new product introduction in transmission and distribution. Rail high voltage experience will be an added advantage.
• Strong technical acumen demonstrated through technical publications
• Knowledge of six sigma tools will be added advantage. 

What your background should look like

Generally requires Bachelors degree in appropriate field with a minimum of 8 years of experience; Masters degree or higher or local equivalent may be preferred at this level
