Job Overview

TE Connectivity’s R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams conceive original ideas for new products, introduce them into practice. They are responsible for product development, and qualification from market definition through production and release; assist in the qualification of suppliers for new products to ensure suppliers deliver quality parts, materials, and services for new or improved manufacturing processes; conduct feasibility studies, testing on new and modified designs; direct and support detailed design, testing, prototype fabrication and manufacturing ramp. The R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams provide all required product documentation including, but not limited to, Solid Model, 2D/3D production drawings, product specifications, and testing requirements. They create and modify detailed drawings and drafting or conceptual models from layouts, rough sketches or notes and contribute to design modifications to facilitate manufacturing operation or quality of product. Typical fields of expertise include: materials, mechanics and systems, electrical, optics, chemistry, software, automation systems, packaging, testing and measurement, and manufacturing of electrical, mechanical and electronic components, products, and their integration into systems.

New employee will enroll as SAE, System Application Engineer. Focus on innovative platform product development for electrical power connectivity solutions in new energy automotive industry. Have prevision on the new technology and take it to the ground, with sound knowledge of electrical contact physics, resin and copper alloy material, managed thermal and limited package envelop.

Basic daily workflow including:

  1. Visit customer, gather Voice-Of-Customer, understand the deep-down requirement and translate into measurable technical objective;
  2. Negotiate, walk around or conquer the technical challenge, provide overall solution basing on complete insight of TE product portfolio and innovative ideas, in time with quality;
  3. Screening multiple concepts with calculation and simulation tools, visualize with CAD tool;
  4. Feasibility study in perspective from Tech, Design for Manufacture and Cost; benchmark, balance the pro and con;
  5. Present the concept to customer and internal Sales/Marketing and tech panel;
  6. Deliver the  quality concept design and development documents to next Product Engineering team and further Cross Function Teams;
  7. Win business and have good alignment with company’s roadmap; be a bridge between HEMs Product Management and Product Engineering.



  1. Mechanical engineering or related bachelor or master degree;
  2. 2+ year experience of engineering for bachelor degree; new graduate of master degree;
  3. If bachelor degree, experience in Automotive electrical parts, plastic inject molded part, sheet metal stamping or die cast design experience is a plus. If master degree, related project/paper is a must;
  4. CAD understanding. Skilled in at least 1 CAD software. Creo is a plus. CAE knowledge is a plus;
  5. Office software skilled. PPT skill is plus. Excel or formula calculation skill is a plus;
  6. English communication skilled, in written and oral. Other language (German, Japanese and French) is a plus;
  7. Located in Shanghai. Not a must to Over Time, but can accept emergency task. Can accept short business trip;
