Job Overview

TE Connectivity’s R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams conceive original ideas for new products, introduce them into practice. They are responsible for product development, and qualification from market definition through production and release; assist in the qualification of suppliers for new products to ensure suppliers deliver quality parts, materials, and services for new or improved manufacturing processes; conduct feasibility studies, testing on new and modified designs; direct and support detailed design, testing, prototype fabrication and manufacturing ramp. The R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams provide all required product documentation including, but not limited to, Solid Model, 2D/3D production drawings, product specifications, and testing requirements. They create and modify detailed drawings and drafting or conceptual models from layouts, rough sketches or notes and contribute to design modifications to facilitate manufacturing operation or quality of product. Typical fields of expertise include: materials, mechanics and systems, electrical, optics, chemistry, software, automation systems, packaging, testing and measurement, and manufacturing of electrical, mechanical and electronic components, products, and their integration into systems.

What your background should look like:

RESPONSIBILITIES 

•    Provide technical authority and guidance for all High Voltage Rail products systems and services.
•    Support the technology road map of Roofline engineering as a key technical lead in development projects
•    Ensure all technical requirements are defined, met and authorised in line with internal, customer, end user and international standards.
•    Work with Customer in generating winning concepts thereby generating New Product Streams
•    Technical execution for design, development, qualification, and product release
•    Independently handle multiple Engineering development projects from Scratch to Production
•    Conduct and contribute to product design and development activities such as:
    Voice of Customer
    Product requirement documentation
    DFMEA
    FEA Simulations – Both Mechanical and Electrical
    Product Specifications
    Qualification Requirements & Planning: Internal and to Rail Standard
    Product Qualification and Verification Review
    Operating Manuals
    Design Reviews
    Signoff on Qualification test reports
•    Customer technical liaison to support both post-sale in-service products and new projects.
•    Lead structured fault diagnosis & analysis of field failure of various components. Recommend actions
•    Working in solid modelling and mechanical drawing using CREO Pro/E and PDMLink product data management software.
•    Preparation of detail drawings for manufacturing.
•    Support manufacturing during pilot run of new products.

EDUCATION/KNOWLEDGE
•    Bachelor or above in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering with 6+ years of experience
•    Minimum 3yrs preferably 5yrs product development experienced in High Voltage (15 to 50kV) transmission cables, assemblies and accessories, Switchgear, Surge arrestors, or systems. Rail High Voltage systems experience would be highly desirable. Alternatively experience in utilities power transmission and switching equipment applications can be considered
•    Proven track record of New product introduction in transmission and distribution. Rail high voltage experience will be an added advantage.
•    Strong technical acumen demonstrated thru technical publications
•    Knowledge of six sigma tools will be added advantage.  
•    Willingness to travel both domestically and internationally at short notice
