Job Overview

TE Connectivity's Government Affairs Teams develop and implement corporate policy through strategic partnerships with government and industry groups aligning with business objectives. They serve as company liaison to, and foster relationships with, key members of government and industry groups to promote company interests. They prepare policy briefings, testimony for pending legislative actions, and provide thought leadership and recommendations as well as ensure appropriate company participation in government forums and industry group meetings.

What your background should look like:

1. Organization: 
1) Represent GGACR at the China Business Network, the China Operations Network (CHOPs), and China Functional Leader team to promote collaborations and improve productivity in TE China.
2) Support GGACR’s further transformation into a service-oriented and business-enabling organization that is agile to respond to internal customer request and external environmental updates.

2. Policy advocacy: 
1) Plan, shape and implement result-oriented policy advocacy plans to advance TE’s agenda with decision-makers both at national and local levels, with a focus on China and Southeast Asia (SEA). 
2) Engage with Government stakeholders in key markets TE serves to continue building TE credentials and positioning efforts.
3) Translate policy initiatives into business opportunities to help grow TE's revenue and impact positively/protect TE's bottom line.
4) Identify proactively policy initiatives, regulatory trends and emerging policy risks to support business leaders, product management, supply chain, etc., with timely alerts, guidance and support mitigation plans.
5) Coordinate the longer-term promotion, positioning, and defense of TE's business capacities at national level.

3. Corporate responsibility: 
1) Drive strategic corporate responsibility programs to create shared value for the Company and internal customers.
2) Promote STEM education in the region to strengthen community relations, improve employer branding, and establish talent pipelines.
3) Drive sustainability culture in the Company to deliver TE Purpose.
4) Engage with communities, non-governmental organizations to grow TE corporate citizen credentials and foster TE local community engagement capabilities.

4. Strategic footprint rationalization:
1) Proactively advise on internal customers’ footprint projects to achieve operational effectiveness and efficiency.
2) Proactively participate in corporate M&A projects to deliver results.

5. Business enabler:
1) Assist internal customers and business leads to monetize policy measures and positive trends momentum (electrification, decarbonization, energy integration, sustainability, mobility, etc., to foster TE business market opportunities and operational efficiency.
2) Assist internal customers’ market entry efforts into policy-driven sectors, e.g. infrastructure and energy.
3) Assist internal customers to build ethical and institutionalized relations with state owned enterprises.

6. Stakeholder engagement: 
1) Maintain and develop healthy and ethical working relations with national and local governments, third-parties, and non-governmental organizations to enable market access, ensure operation continuity, accumulate reputational equity, and enhance community engagement. 
2) Establish thought leadership in mitigating geopolitical challenges, responsible corporate citizen, innovation, and business continuity.
3) Identify and execute opportunities to place TE executives at events of strategic importance.

Qualifications: 1) 10 + years of proven experience in government affairs and corporate responsibility.
2) Excellent knowledge and understanding of the political, policy and regulatory environment in China; relevant experience in other APAC countries is preferred.
3) Broad knowledge of the macroeconomic and industrial environment; experience in the technology sector is highly preferred. 
4) Extensive experience in strategic stakeholder engagement. 
5) Extensive experience in handling multiple assignments concurrently, based on concrete business-positive outcomes. 
6) Experience in working in a multi-cultural and cross-functional environment.
7) Experience in formulating budgets and working within financial constraints.
