Job Overview

The Senior Die Manufacturing Engineer will be part of a Core Manufacturing Engineering Team for the Appliances Business Unit. The team is considered the process leaders in stamping, molding, and assembly machines, ensuring the processes are running at optimum levels for quality and output. Our expertise is in mold and die tooling, machining, and automatic assembly techniques, possessing extensive knowledge of the associated manufacturing processes which may include the optimization and standardization of stamping / molding / assembly or other processes within the manufacturing environment. The Die Engineer will design and develop stamping dies and processes to optimize the manufacturing of existing products in production. The Die Engineer enables the manufacturing plants and suppliers to implement TE BEST ideas and Best Demonstrated Practices (BDP’s) in stamping dies and processes for capacity builds, process improvements, and redesign projects.

What your background should look like:

Conducting detailed print reviews of legacy product and provide recommendations to improve the current stamping process
Assess and provide risk analysis and risk mitigation for stamping dies and processes in the Definition Phase of the project
Generate Tooling Approval Requirements (TAR) for the stamping die and process which includes defining capability study requirementsImplement TE BEST demonstrated stamping practices into new and existing stamping dies and processes
Participate in design reviews, optimize die designs, and have a working knowledge of AutoCAD, First Articles and Capability Studies
Work and collaborate with TE Connectivity manufacturing plants and global suppliers to design, build, and condition new stamping dies and improve the performance of existing stamping processes
Update all related stamping process documentation to ensure accurate information is available for future projects
Collaborate with Quality Engineer to solve quality problems with stamped contacts
Follow up with documented cost savings for new and improved stamping dies and processes
5% to 10% global travel may be required

4 year degree in Mechanical Engineering
Experience in the high speed stamping of contacts for electrical connectors
Good communication skills and the ability to articulate technical data effectively
Experience in collaborating with global cultures in a project manager led / team environment
Experience and the ability to manage stamping projects
Experience in providing the Stamping Die & Processing Specifications for new stamping dies and stamping processes
Experience in conditioning and troubleshooting stamping dies in global locations
Machinist or Tool and Die experience is a plus
Experience and working knowledge of Stamping Presses, Vision Systems, Reeling & Dereeling of contacts, and lubrication systems
