SR MANAGER COMMUNICATIONS

Job Overview

TE Connectivity's Marketing Communications teams design, execute and report on internal and external communications and PR activities, engaging with customers, outside agencies and industry organizations. They define the messages and oversee the implementation of initiatives that engage key audiences using a variety of approaches, including internal communications, media, public relations and social media, developing ideas and stories to execute internal and external communications.  They leverage a trend or storyline emerging from multiple inputs, e.g., team meetings, reports, social and traditional media, politics and current events, to elevate TE’s brand in the market and partner with marketing colleagues to ensure campaigns, lead generation and market-facing communications complement one another to drive marketing results and manages the relationship with TE’s public relations agency of record and assigned budget. The Communications team collaborates closely with various stakeholders from executive leadership team and Human Resources to a variety of product, sales and internal marketing partners.

ROLE OVERVIEW
TE Connectivity, a global industrial technology leader, is seeking a Senior Manager, Communications to lead its Corporate Communications in China. This exciting role will have full responsibility to protect and promote TE’s reputation in China, building trust with key stakeholders by driving relatable narrative and landing effective Communications strategy, as well as amplifying company’s strategic differentiation to support the business growth in China. This role will also be a trusted partner to provide related counselling to China General Manager and other local business leaders.
Based in Shanghai, this role will directly report to the head of Global Brand & External Communications and manage a team of Communications professionals in China, in close collaboration with Global Corporate HQ Communications team.

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBLITIES
As the Communications leader for China
•    Set full-year annual priority and plan for TE’s Corporate Communications in China in alignment with global communications strategy and local business goals.
•    Drive compelling narrative and ensure its effective landing through appropriate channels to enhance TE’s overall brand awareness and differentiation in China.
•    Responsible for the local media strategy, act as primary contact for media enquiry in China and drive robust programs to grow TE’s shared of voice among targeted media groups.
•    Manage issues & crises evolving China and navigate multiple issues to mitigate business and reputation risks with internal stakeholder group.
•    Act as a Communications partner to provide consultancy to China GMs and business leaders in terms of executive visibility on social platforms, public speaking opportunities, media engagement and more.
•    Partner with country leaders and HR to engage local employees with resonating content thorough appropriate platform. The internal platform includes townhall meeting, employee WeChat, email announcement and other digital channels.
•    Establish and manage effective relations with Global Marketing & Communications network, local peer functions and external agency partners to ensure alignment and synergy.

•    Continue to evolve the operating model and value proposition of Communications to better support the local business.
•    Lead, coach and empower the team.
•    Be a champion for Marketing & Communications to nurture relations with key stakeholders internally and externally.


KEY SKILLS to be successful in the role:
•    10+ years of relevant experience.
•    Strategic thinker with the ability to translate business priority into Communications actions.
•    Proven manager: experience in leading, developing, and motivating direct and cross-functional teams.
•    Demonstrated ability to work in a matrix organization with the ability to influence and align thinking across functions.
•    Comfortable to partner and influence different levels of people across the organization. 
•    Excellent verbal and written communications skills in both Chinese and English, with great presentation skills.
•    BA/BS degree required.
