Job Overview

TE Connectivity's Supply Chain Managers are responsible for the timely, cost-effective procurement, inventory control, planning and quality control of production materials. They ensure the availability of materials in the supply chain, as scheduled, and the maintenance of inventory at the established levels. They coordinate and integrate the flow of materials and information among suppliers, manufacturers, distributors and customers, identifying opportunities for improving efficiency, effectiveness and capabilities of the supply chain. Resources are focused on continuous improvement of the movement of materials through production processes, and the establishment of key performance metrics and benchmarks to monitor actual performance against goals.

What your background should look like:

Overview / Purpose of the Job    The Supply Chain Manager role is a newly created role located in China under DND BU. The right candidate will be responsible for International Trade related areas to be representative of DND BU, supporting trade operations and compliance, facilitate TE’s compliance at BU level with import and export regulations globally to enhance global trade compliance, reduce risk, increase responsiveness to issues and opportunities, facility effective operational aspects of international trade, manage transformation projects, and provide training within BU to make sure DND BU full compliance globally.

Trade operations:
•    Being escalation point of any non-compliance issue within BU, including but not limited to import and export regulations / documentation

•    Work with TE internal Global Trade Compliance functional team to facility Restricted Party Screening, Sanctions Operations to enhance global trade compliance controls, reduce risk, increase responsiveness to issues and opportunities, and facilitate effective operational functions of international trade

•    Supported by TE internal Global Trade Compliance function to lead BU level HS Code jurisdiction and classification determinations of items' jurisdiction and classification for export (including Wassenaar Arrangement, U.S. Commerce Control List, U.S. Munitions List, etc.) and import (including Harmonized Tariff System, etc.) to support TE's operations. Assessing and determining the jurisdiction and classification of goods, software, technical information and services for export and import in all locations where BU operations. 

Customs Compliance:
•    Responsible to support centralized core activities to manage Customs and Imports related projects and Documentation, delivering centralized management of Country of Origin determinations, Customs Audits, and other aspects of Customs compliance

Duty Saving:
•    Support centralized management of Duty Saving tariff mitigation, free trade agreement and free trade zone management, bonded warehouse management, duty drawbacks, anti-dumping compliance and other aspects related to duty saving opportunities


•    Lead or support International trade related system solution design and deployment
•    Provide training to DND BU internally including but not limited to import and export regulations,  support other Logistics Transformation Initiatives when necessary

3    Requirements for a typical Job Holder / Applicant (not the actual incumbent at TE Connectivity)
Educational Degree    Bachelor’s degree in International Trade, supply chain, Operation Management or related field
Professional Experience (years in what processes and function)    
10+ years working experience in Global Trade Compliance function.
Special Qualifications, Knowledge & Skills    Advanced knowledge for International trade and logistics operational process in CN/HK/TW US/MX, Europe and South East Asia
Other important things to note    Experience in Global Role, understand Chinese culture with smooth and effective communication
