MANAGER I ENTERPRISE SYSTEMS
Job Summary:
The SAP Sales and Distribution Team Leader is responsible for leading a small team of analysts within a global SAP Order Management environment in the APAC Region. This role combines leadership and people development responsibilities with hands-on SAP SD analysis and support. The Team Leader ensures team alignment with business goals, fosters professional growth, and contributes to the design, configuration, and support of SAP SD solutions.
In addition to leadership duties, the Team Leader will also have project assignments similar to those of an analyst, contributing directly to solution development and implementation. A key aspect of this role is the ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders in China, ensuring effective collaboration and alignment with regional business needs.
Primary Responsibilities:
Team Leadership Responsibilities (Primary Focus):
1. Team Development and Coaching
- Mentor and guide team members in their technical and professional growth.
- Identify development opportunities and coordinate training plans.
- Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing team culture.
2. Performance Management
- Conduct regular 1-on-1 meetings to review progress, provide feedback, and support individual goals.
- Lead annual performance reviews and salary discussions.
- Set clear expectations and monitor performance metrics.
3. Workload Planning and Oversight
- Assign tasks and projects based on team capacity and strengths.
- Ensure timely and high-quality delivery of team outputs.
- Serve as the escalation point for team-related issues.
4. Strategic Alignment and Communication
- Represent the team in cross-functional and global meetings.
- Communicate priorities, updates, and changes effectively.
- Ensure team activities align with organizational goals and standards.
SAP Analyst Responsibilities (Secondary Focus):
1. Determine Business Requirements
- Meet with users, management, and other Core Team Analysts to define business requirements in sufficient detail to determine the appropriate SAP configuration or development (ABAP/SAPScript/Smartforms) required, or to document why the requirement cannot be satisfied by an SAP-based solution.
- Document the requirements in a functional requirements document. Include input and output requirements, process maps and business benefits as appropriate.
- Coordinate the activity of other SAP analysts to ensure complete requirements are defined.
2. Design SAP-based Business Systems
- Independently evaluate alternative solutions to business requirements and document a recommended design.
- Provide an estimate of the cost and risk of an SAP solution.
- Recommend ABAP or other programming enhancements when no SAP solution is possible.
3. Configure the SAP System
- Translate business requirements into SAP configuration with help from other team members and consultants.
- Document the SAP configuration required if complex or unique.
- Enter, test, and migrate the required SAP configuration to production.
- Obtain resolution to problems when required via the OSS facility.
4. Prepare Development Specifications
- Document the required functionality, input, and output for ABAP/SAPScript/Smartforms programs, and the technical requirements of interfaces to other systems.
- Provide oversight to ABAP developers to ensure requirements are understood and that a well-designed, efficient, and supportable solution is developed.
- Provide and use unit test scenarios and test data.
5. Test the SAP System, Enhancements, and Add-ons
- Provide integrated test scenarios across all related processes reflecting the business requirements.
- Test the system, documenting the results.
- Investigate and resolve test problems, coordinating the activities of others as required.
6. Support Data Mapping from Legacy Systems
- Develop and maintain mapping documents that define requirements for legacy system data to be loaded into SAP.
- Communicate and explain mapping documents to local IS organizations creating extracts.
- Review extracts (files) to ensure they comply with the mapping specifications.
- Verify extracted data is correctly loaded into SAP consistent with the intended mapping.
7. Develop SAP Batch Jobs, UNIX Scripts, and Variants
- Define batch processing requirements and interface requirements.
- Create the necessary SAP jobs and variants.
- Support Operations in the creation of job schedules.
- Ensure Unix files and directories are used efficiently and securely.
8. Provide Local Implementation Team Training
- Create and modify training material with the assistance of the Training Team.
- Deliver training to a project’s local implementation team and to others as required.
- Ensure training material remains up to date as the SAP System changes.
Competencies & Experience Required/Desired:
6-10 years’ experience in SAP ECC/S/4 Sales and Distribution or other IT function
Demonstrated leadership or mentoring experience
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
High integrity and ethical standards
Ability to manage both people and projects effectively
Technically savvy in IT principles and SAP SD
Experience with Oracle/PLSQL, XML, HTML, Java is a plus
Proficiency in Microsoft collaboration tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Teams)
Willingness to travel globally; culturally informed
Education:
University degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related field
OR any other university degree plus 6 years’ work experience within an IS organization
