ANALYST I ENTERPRISE SYSTEMS

TE Information Systems has a truly diverse multi-national team with an expectation of seamless cooperation among various functional towers and service providers. As part of the Source-to-Pay function in our Global Applications Solutions team, you would become part of the S/4 process reengineering and deployment effort, while keeping our existing systems in a high state of functional readiness.
Primary Responsibilities:
Below primary responsibilities describe a spectrum of job activities a GAS SAP System Analyst will eventually execute. For the given position, the interest and principle ability to work into such a role is expected. TE IS will provide an on-boarding and mentoring program to help grow into these functions.
1) Determine Business Requirements
• Meet with users, management and other IT/IS Team Analysts to define business requirements in a detail level to determine the appropriate SAP configuration or development (ABAP/Java) required, or to document why the requirement cannot be satisfied by an SAP-based solution.
• Coordinate business requirements with functional teams and overview implementation aspects of new functionalities.
• Coordinate the activity of other SAP analysts to ensure complete requirements are defined.
2) Design SAP-based Business Systems
• Independently evaluate alternative solutions to business requirements and document a recommended design.
• Provide an estimate of the cost and risk of an SAP solution.
• Recommend ABAP or other programming enhancements when no SAP solution is possible.
3) Configure the SAP System
• Translate business requirements into SAP configuration with occasional help from other team members and consultants.
• Document the SAP configuration required if complex or unique.
• Enter, test and migrate the required SAP configuration to production.
• Obtain resolution to problems when required via the OSS facility.
4) Prepare Development Specifications (Smaller sized development)
• Document the required functionality, input and output for ABAP/Java programs, and the technical requirements of interfaces to other systems.
• Provide oversight to other ABAP developers to ensure requirements are understood and that a well-designed, efficient and supportable solution is developed.
• Provide and use unit test scenarios and test data
5) Design ABAP Solutions (Smaller sized developments)
• Independently evaluate alternative ABAP/Java solutions to business requirements and document a recommended design.
• Investigate existing solutions to avoid redundant development.
• Provide an estimate of the cost and risk of an ABAP/Java solution.
6) Test the SAP System, Enhancements and Add-ons
• Provide integrated test scenarios across all related processes reflecting the business requirements
• Test, or help others to test the system, documenting the results
• Investigate and resolve test problems, coordinating the activities of others as required
7) Support Data Mapping from Legacy Systems
• Develop and maintain mapping documents that define requirements for legacy system data to be loaded into SAP.
• Communicate and explain mapping documents to local IS organizations creating extracts.
• Review extracts (files) to ensure they comply with the mapping specifications.
• Verify extracted data is correctly loaded into SAP consistent with the intended mapping.
8) Develop SAP Batch Jobs, UNIX Scripts and Variants
• Define batch processing requirements and interface requirements.
• Create the necessary SAP jobs and variants.
• Support Operations in the creation of job schedules.
• Ensure Unix files and directories are used efficiently and securely.
9) Provide Local Implementation Team Training
• Create and modify training material with the assistance of the Training Team.
• Deliver training to a project’s local implementation team and to others as required.
• Ensure training material remains up to date as the SAP System changes.
10) Provide Support for the Production System.
• Respond to problems logged in the Problem Tracking System. Coordinate the resolution with external service partner and other IT/IS team members as required.
• Respond to urgent problems outside normal working hours when on-call.
• Recommend changes to the System to improve availability and performance.
• Work with BASIS team to Apply OSS notes, hot packs and upgrades and participate in testing those changes.
• Investigate and read ABAP and use SAP's debugger to resolve production support problems
• Note: This production support is mainly supported by the external service partner. This means the SAP analysts provides support to users directly more as an exception. It is more about providing further support and guidance to the external service partner team members on demand.
Competencies & Experience Required/Desired:
Below competencies describe the need for an ERP Systems Analyst. For a college position the willingness, ability and interest to grow into such a competency within a reasonable time. Preliminary knowledge in the area is of advantage, but not necessarily required. TE IS will support growing into this competency by it’s on boarding and mentoring program.
• Some experience/knowledge in the SAP ERP area is relevant but not required
• Basic understanding of a general programming concept, in order to be able to learn basics of the ABAP programming language used by SAP to execute „debugging“ actions
• Good process analysis skills and creativity with respect to problem solving skills.
• Willingness to work independently and as an active team member, depending on assignment.
• Ability to demonstrate accountability for all work assignments.
• English as a first or second language, sufficient for documenting business and technical requirements, telephone consulting, email, training, and end user documentation.
• Willingness to travel up to approximately 30 % of the time when assigned to an SAP Go Live project.
• Working knowledge of at least one major relational database management system (such as Oracle, DB2 or SQL Server) and MS/ACCESS.
