The Assembly Supervisor II is responsible for leading daily production activities supporting the manufacturing, assembly, testing, and integration of advanced optical systems and DDN (Data Delivery Network) solutions. This role oversees assembly technicians and production operators while ensuring products are manufactured safely, efficiently, and in compliance with quality and customer requirements. The supervisor will drive operational excellence, workforce development, and continuous improvement initiatives in a high-mix, technology-driven manufacturing environment.
Please note: operations are currently based at a temporary site in Webster, NY. The team will transition to a permanent Rochester location (near RIT) upon completion.

Job Requirements
• Lead and coordinate daily assembly, integration, and test operations for optics, photonics, fiber optic, and DDN product lines.
• Supervise production personnel, ensuring adherence to standard work instructions, quality requirements, and manufacturing procedures.
• Execute production plans and schedules to meet customer delivery commitments while optimizing labor and equipment utilization.
• Monitor production performance metrics, including throughput, quality, yield, and schedule attainment.
• Recruit, train, coach, and develop team members while fostering a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
• Ensure compliance with safety, ESD, cleanroom, and handling requirements for sensitive optical components and electronic assemblies.
• Partner with Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Program Management teams to resolve manufacturing issues and improve processes.
• Support optical alignment, precision assembly, fiber optic integration, and final system testing activities.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, quality, cost reduction, and cycle-time improvements.
• Identify and implement tooling, fixture, automation, and process improvements that enhance manufacturing performance.
• Monitor scrap, rework, and material usage while implementing corrective actions to achieve operational goals.
• Support new product introductions (NPI), process validations, and manufacturing transfers.
• Conduct regular meetings with production associates to communicate business objectives, performance expectations, and operational updates.
What your background should look like
• Associates or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing Technology, Optics, Photonics, Electronics, or a related technical discipline preferred.
• 2+ years of manufacturing experience with a minimum of 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
• Experience in optics, photonics, fiber optics, networking hardware, DDN systems, data infrastructure products, semiconductor, aerospace, or high-tech manufacturing environments preferred.
• Strong knowledge of production planning, assembly operations, and quality management systems.
• Experience with precision assembly, optical alignment, electro-mechanical systems, or network infrastructure products.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, work instructions, SOPs, and technical specifications.
• Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate teams and drive performance.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Experience with ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Experience
• Optical transceivers, fiber optic connectivity, laser systems, or photonic device assembly.
• High-speed networking products, data center infrastructure, or DDN storage/networking solutions.
• Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen, or Continuous Improvement methodologies.
• ISO 9001, AS9100, or regulated manufacturing environments.
• Automated test equipment and manufacturing process validation.

COMPENSATION
• Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $77,200 – $115,700 (subject to change dependent on physical location)
• Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. TE Connectivity reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
• Total Compensation = Base Salary + Incentive(s) + Benefits
