Job Overview

 

Under general supervision, responsible for carrying out broad assignments involving the sourcing of components and raw materials, requiring extensive or specialized knowledge or experience in Project Management for New Product Introductions into the Americas markets for the Aerospace, Defense & Marine business unit at TE Connectivity based remotely. Supports the introduction of new products with the objective of sourcing material at the right cost with the right supply chain from the start of production. Works directly with strategic sourcing team and commodity managers on developing sources of supply where vendors and preferred suppliers are inadequate by leading the Supplier Selection Process in support of NPI, in direct alignment with category strategies and the Supplier Development Team.


 
Duties & Responsibilities:

 

 

  • Directly leads projects assigned autonomously 
  • Develop or optimize the process to improve NPI execution 
  • Works within NPI cross-functional project team playing a key part in the coordination and delivery of the New Product Development across the company.
  • Sources complex direct materials (ex. die castings, injection moldings, metal fabrications, PCBAs) with suppliers that can meet the service, quality and cost requirements. Working closely with manufacturing site buyers throughout the sourcing process for new products.
  • Coordinates with Design Engineering to identify and negotiate cost reduction opportunities on existing and new products, ensuring early DFM feedback from suppliers.
  • Conducts cost / price analysis for all products utilizing Cost Breakdowns and Should-Cost models under their responsibilities with emphasis on high dollar and sole source procurements. Works in conjunction with the commodity managers on negotiation strategies.
  • Maintains a positive working relationship with supplier base. Ensures that the Supplier KPI’s governing quality, delivery and NPI performance are considered before deciding to source material from vendors.
  • Ensures that all sourcing is based on negotiated competitive bids as submitted by qualified suppliers and in alignment with Should Cost targets (where available).
  • Where applicable, refer to the Company's "Delegate of Authority" to identify approval levels.
     

What your background should look like:

 

  • Bachelor's degree, in engineering, procurement, supply chain or business administration.
  • At least 5-10 years of relevant professional experience in Engineering or Procurement within a New Product Introduction role.
  • Experience with LEAN methodologies, 6Sigma experience a plus
  • Experience in purchasing technical goods with strong methodical-strategic knowledge and operational-tactical know-how
  • Knowledge of the product lines and the associated manufacturing processes in the area of responsibility is advantageous.
  • Background and experience in the aerospace industry is an advantage, as is knowledge of connectors or terminals.
  • Very good knowledge of cost and price analysis techniques including should-cost modeling, linear pricing performance, cost breakdown analysis, material index tracking, etc.
  • Certification in project management or procurement, such as C.P.M or CPIM is desirable
  • Advanced knowledge of SAP, especially in the MM module
  • Very good organizational skills
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills
  • Familiarity with Governance and Gateway process for NPD cycle.

 

Key Performance Indicators for this role: 

 

  • LOT (Launch on Time) - Measures G5 date based on G3 Commitment.
  • LOC (Launch on Cost) - Measures our ability to hit product cost per Landing Zone defined at G3.
  • LOQ (Launch on Quality) - Measure completion of deliverables at G5 (basically quality audit to make sure all deliverables were complete).
  • NPS1 (New Part Sales YR1) - Measures the 1st 12-month sales of new product.
  • NPD Cycle Time

COMPENSATION
•    Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $92,000 – 135,000 (subject to change dependent on physical location)
•    Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. TE Connectivity reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
•    Total Compensation = Base Salary + Incentive(s) + Benefits
