Overview

TE Connectivity's Manufacturing and Process Development Engineering Teams significantly impact LEANPD driven new product development projects, driving for excellence in existing manufacturing technologies and methods and striving to implement new manufacturing technologies to provide improved process and tolerance control. They act as the binding element between product development and manufacturing engineering, ensuring the effectiveness and efficiency of this critical interface. They support Product Development in the optimization of designs and piece parts for manufacturability by realizing sample tooling/products/prototypes. They also design, develop, and qualify tooling and processes to meet TE quality and production standards, document all processes and tooling in applicable TE systems, support supply chain to verify supplier compliance and capability, initiate and implement programs to continuously improve quality, cost and cycle time and adhere to all appropriate specifications, regulatory requirements and customer requirements.

Job Overview

TE Connectivity Redwood City Plant is currently seeking a highly motivated Manufacturing and Process Development Engineer with Plastics, Polymers and/or Elastomers experience to join the Engineering team.  The Manufacturing and Process Development Engineer is a key member of RWC Process Engineering team and thereby will be responsible for the investigation, resolution of problems encountered in the manufacturing process and identify and implementing process improvement projects.

Must be comfortable in an industrial setting, well versed with various aspects of manufacturing and ability to work as a team member with cross functional teams members, remote sites and outside vendors. Individual needs be an organized, self-starter and require minimum supervision. The Manufacturing and Process Development Engineer should have strong written and oral skills as they will be required to interface with members from various functional departments. Must have a Continuous Improvement mindset and with strong focus on achieving goals and targets.

Essential Job Functions

•    Respond to production issues. Determine the cause of manufacturing defects or failures and take actions to correct and resolve the problems;
•    Review, recommend and implement design, process or equipment changes;
•    Set-up manufacturing procedures, process instructions, and provide training to machine operators
•    Work with Quality to resolve customer's complaints;
•    Initiate/manage capital equipment projects. Specify and manage installation and start-up of new manufacturing equipment;
•    Scale-up manufacturing processes;
•    Analyze yield and process data;
•    Create bill-of-materials, routing and manufacturing specifications for new products;
•    Document technical and manufacturing information;
•    Communicate and collaborate with other departments of TE Connectivity as needed
•    Work with Global Engineering teams. Including US and all global locations.

What your background should look like:

•    Mechanical, Industrial, Plastics, Chem or Manufacturing Engineering Degree plus 5 years of experience is preferred.
•    Experience with Plastics, Polymers and/or Elastomers; Wire and Cable Manufacturing, Extrusion process or related processes strongly preferred.
•    Competency with CAD and other 3-D modeling and metrology software desired (Pro/E or Creo, Volume Graphics is preferred)
•    Must be able to work in a hands-on environment in an industrial setting.
•    Sound project management skills.
•    Proficient in MS Office Software such as Excel, Word, Outlook, and Access.
•    Working knowledge of six sigma and lean manufacturing tools.
•    Strong verbal and written communication skills.
•    Capability to work in a fasted paced, dynamic global environment with multiple changing priorities.
•    Must be proficient in the English language.
