Job Overview

TE Connectivity's Manufacturing and Process Development Engineering Teams significantly impact LEANPD driven new product development projects, driving for excellence in existing manufacturing technologies and methods and striving to implement new manufacturing technologies to provide improved process and tolerance control. They act as the binding element between product development and manufacturing engineering, ensuring the effectiveness and efficiency of this critical interface. They support Product Development in the optimization of designs and piece parts for manufacturability by realizing sample tooling/products/prototypes. They also design, develop, and qualify tooling and processes to meet TE quality and production standards, document all processes and tooling in applicable TE systems, support supply chain to verify supplier compliance and capability, initiate and implement programs to continuously improve quality, cost and cycle time and adhere to all appropriate specifications, regulatory requirements and customer requirements.

Must be familiar with automation design fundamentals, plastics materials and assembly of injection molded parts. Must have knowledge of the latest assembly technologies, including robotics, machine vision, ultrasonic welding, and electrical testing. Must be able to work as a team member with remote sites and outside vendors. This individual will be an organized self-starter and require limited supervision. The Manufacturing Development Engineer should have strong written and oral skills as they will be required to interface with team members, suppliers, and other teams within TE.
 
Essential Job Functions 
•    Develop and review technical equipment specifications for custom assembly equipment.
•    Coordinate design review processes from concept to final release.
•    Apply experience and knowledge to the design, build, and procurement of assembly equipment and tooling.
•    Read and understand 2D and 3D part drawings.
•    Resolving tool and design problems when working in 2D & 3D model environments
•    Estimating tooling and process costs.
•    Work with Global Engineering teams, including locations across all regions.

Qualifications:
•    A mechanical, mechatronics, or manufacturing engineering degree plus 5 years of experience is preferred.
•    Experience with automation and assembly equipment design, development, and manufacturing deployment.
•    Competency with 2D and 3D CAD software desired (Pro/E or Creo, Volume Graphics is preferred)
•    Must be able to work in a hands-on environment.
•    Sound project management skills.
•    Proficient in MS Office Software such as Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
•    Working knowledge of six sigma and lean manufacturing tools.
•    Strong verbal and written communication skills.
•    Capability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic global environment with multiple changing priorities.
•    Must be proficient in the English language.
