Job Overview

TE Connectivity's Project Management Teams are responsible for managing the operational aspects of projects from inception through implementation. They coordinate cross-functional teams and serve as liaison between project management and planning, project teams and line management. Our Teams review status of projects and budgets, manage schedules and prepare status reports. They assess project issues and develop resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals and objectives. They also develop mechanisms for monitoring project progress and for intervention and problem solving with project managers, line managers, and clients.

 

FUNCTION OVERVIEW:
TE Connectivity’s Project Management Teams manage cross functional projects. They work with Product Management, Sales, Quality, Manufacturing, Finance, and other functions across TE to assure projects meet financial, schedule and customer expectations. They are responsible for defining and creating project schedules, portfolio management, communication, and execution of programs, identifying resource constraints and working with management for resolution, while adhering to LeanPD processes.

 

Location: Onsite Mexico / US based candidates with the willingness to be onsite Mexico for at least 2 weeks per month

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES AND OBJECTIVES:

Responsible for managing the Project Management Portfolio and Teams driving project performance, resource planning, staffing, risk management, and communication on all projects identified within realm of responsibility. The focus will be on Financials, On-Time Delivery, VoC Scope, Schedule, and Budget objective attainment as well as management and development of PMO resources as required by assigned position.

  • Manage and develop a team of project managers to support the project portfolio for the organization.
  • Lead the project portfolio data and reporting enabling the project management on regular basis: Project KPI Dashboard, Capex/Opex, …
  • Ensure the TE standardized Project Management System (LeanPD) is followed in each program.
  • Ensure compliance to PMO processes, procedures, and use of PMO templates. Regularly keep management informed of risks, issues, and status of on-going projects.
  • Manage short-term requests to support Industrial and Commercial Transportation (ICT) BU performance thru exploring, proposing and implementing project actions contributing to on-going FY performance.
  • Lead project reviews within Industrial and Commercial Transportation (ICT) as part of project governance and contribute to preparing/leading reviews carried out at the Business Group level.
  • Work with functional managers as needed to meet project objectives, on time delivery, and identify/resolve resourcing issues.
  • Represent all Projects under his/her responsibility with customers, suppliers and TE entities.
  • Provide operational support for Projects within its perimeter whenever necessary.
  • Act as a coach for all Project Managers under its responsibility.
  • Maintain accurate project data reporting and insure accurate data report outs. Resolve project conflicts and establish escalation path on all projects.
  • Ensure project closeout meetings, post launch reviews, best practices and lessons learned are conducted. Meet all established project deadlines.

What your background should look like:

Required Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities or Education

 

  • 8 or more years of Project/Program Management experience in technology or Component Manufacturing working globally with internal and external customers required.
  • Experience in the functional management of a project management team.
  • Business acumen and confidence communicating to senior management and customers.
  • Knowledge of FDA regulations preferred.
  • Formal Project management training required. PMP certification preferred.
  • New product introduction experience for metals components required.
  • Must be results oriented.
  • Ability to act as TE and customer advocate.
  • Ability in managing systems, managing up, and managing peers.
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple projects and programs and meet scope, schedule, and budget requirements.
  • Experience in managing local and global teams.
  • Experience in Product/Project Lifecycle implementation and strong process and systems understanding preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, and component or assembly design principles required.
  • Proficiency in written and verbal communication, problem solving required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Project, on-line collaboration tools, and databases required.
  • Must be willing to travel up to 25% annually
