Job Overview

TE Connectivity's Manufacturing and Process Development Engineering Teams significantly impact LEANPD driven new product development projects, driving for excellence in existing manufacturing technologies and methods and striving to implement new manufacturing technologies to provide improved process and tolerance control. They act as the binding element between product development and manufacturing engineering, ensuring the effectiveness and efficiency of this critical interface. They support Product Development in the optimization of designs and piece parts for manufacturability by realizing sample tooling/products/prototypes. They also design, develop, and qualify tooling and processes to meet TE quality and production standards, document all processes and tooling in applicable TE systems, support supply chain to verify supplier compliance and capability, initiate and implement programs to continuously improve quality, cost and cycle time and adhere to all appropriate specifications, regulatory requirements and customer requirements.

What your background should look like:

STAFF ASSEMBLY MANUFACTURING ENGINEER RESPONSIBILITIES:  
- Conducting detailed print reviews of legacy product and provide recommendations to improve the current assembly process
- Assess and provide risk analysis and risk mitigation for semi-automatic & automatic assembly machine processes in the Definition Phase of the project
- Generate Assembly Machine Specifications and Tooling Approval Requirements (TAR) for the assembly process which includes defining capability study requirements
- Implement TE BEST demonstrated assembly practices into new and existing assembly machines
- Participate in design reviews, optimize assembly machine designs, and have a working knowledge of AutoCAD, creating Machine Acceptance Test plans, First Articles and Capability Studies
- Work and collaborate with TE Connectivity manufacturing plants and global suppliers to design, build, and condition new assembly machines and improve the performance of existing assembly machines
- Update all assembly process related documentation to ensure accurate information is available for future projects
- Follow up with documented cost savings for new and improved assembly machine processes
 

STAFF ASSEMBLY MANUFACTURING ENGINEER QUALIFICATIONS:
- 8–10-year degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Basic knowledge of molds and dies for electrical connectors is a plus
- Machinist or Tool and Die experience is a plus
- Good communication skills and the ability to articulate technical data effectively
- Experience in collaborating with global cultures in a project manager led / team environment
- Experience and the ability to manage automatic assembly machine projects
- Experience in providing the Assembly Machine Specifications for new assembly machines and assembly processes
- Experience in conditioning and troubleshooting semi and automatic assembly machines in global locations
