Job Objective

This position is responsible for aspects of the product design and development of a project with a focus on innovative approach for connectivity in vehicles that address the customer needs for a complete solution. The engineering manager plans, organizes and directs engineering staff to meet company objectives for design, new product development and improvement of existing product lines by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates

Responsibilities

  • Customer Interface: Serve as primary technical interface with Indian customers for battery connectivity solutions, collecting detailed voice of customer data and translating technical insights into specific battery system requirements and specifications for high-voltage and low-voltage battery applications
  • Battery Connectivity Specialization: Develop deep technical expertise in battery connectivity systems including busbar design, high-current connectors, thermal management interfaces, safety disconnects, and battery management system (BMS) connectivity solutions.
  • Technical Requirements Development: Collaborate with Product Management and engineering teams to define technical requirements for battery connectivity products, ensuring alignment with customer specifications for power delivery, safety standards (ISO 26262, USCAR-2), and performance criteria.
  • Competitive Analysis & Benchmarking: Conduct systematic benchmarking of battery connectivity solutions in the market, analyzing competitor products for technical performance, cost positioning, and innovation opportunities in electric vehicle applications.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with design engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure battery connectivity solutions meet customer performance requirements, safety standards, and manufacturing feasibility.
  • Program Support: Support advanced development programs (ADP) and technology development programs (TDP) by providing technical input, customer feedback integration, and requirements traceability for battery connectivity innovations

Education And Knowledge

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • Fluent in English, both oral and Witten. 
  • Good teamwork and willing to make contribution to team

Critical Experience

  • Minimum 8 years of hands-on experience
  • Hands-on understanding of EV battery pack architecture, BMS, BDU, HV/LV distribution, busbars, contactors, fuses and current sensing.
  • Experience interfacing directly with automotive OEMs and Tier-1 suppliers, capturing technical requirements and translating customer needs into product specifications.
  • Experience in HV connectors, high-current interconnections, busbar interfaces, thermal considerations, insulation coordination and electrical safety. Understanding of resins, metals and processing costs to recommend substitutions and improve margins.
  • Practical experience in product design, DVP&R, validation, design reviews, DFMEA and resolving application-related technical challenges.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 26262, ISO 6469, LV214, USCAR-2 and applicable HV electrical safety requirements.
