Job Overview
Develops individual products or specific technical elements for medium-sized projects.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for complete New product development process from capturing Voice of customer to product launch for special Cable assembly- Data Connectivity & HV CAS
- Responsible for implementing and executing plans for the VA/VE (Engineered Savings) team to gather the highest level of gross margin improvements and monitor the results.
- Manage the engineering change process (ECR/ECN) to improve product manufacturability, reduce overall costs, address customer-requested changes, etc. Interact with various functions to ensure engineering change is clearly understood and properly coordinated.
- Communicate directly with Customers to understand and document all product requirements. Communicate directly with supply base to ensure that purchased products meet the required specifications.
- Using Customer design manuals and specifications, translate drawings from Customers into manufacturable, detailed prints that can be understood by the production facility to reliably produce the product. Generate a detailed BOM for each drawing part number; review BOM details and any special requirements with Costing function.
- Ensure that all Customer requirements are clearly specified in the detailed product print - including any special requirements, packaging, testing, etc.
- Clearly communicate to the production facility and to Product Management all special requirements and/or potential manufacturing challenges.
- Provide support to Sales and Marketing personnel on Customer calls by making presentations and being involved in new application discussions.
- Respond quickly to Customer issues and support Quality Engineering by driving root cause analysis and corrective actions for material, mechanical, and electrical problems.
- Responsible for the coordination of Cross Functional Teams to develop improved processes through the APQP process.
- Responsible for planning and delegating the activities to the members of the department.
- Responsible for evaluating new projects and following up on their implementation.
- Product Validation
Critical Experienece
- 7+ years of experience with a minimum of 5 experience in the cable assembly industry.
- Possess a working knowledge of:
- Connector Engineering fundamentals.
- Cable and connector selection, crimping, and assembly manufacturing processes.
- CO-AX, Differentiational & HV cables
- Possess demonstrated technical ability and mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to solve problems in a methodical, logical, and disciplined manner.
- Expert of various cable assembly manufacturing processes
- Hands on experience in design & development of Data Connectivity & HV CAS (including selection of connectors, terminals, wires, cost estimations etc.)
- Ability to coordinate activities with various Functions while balancing Customer requirements and timing with project budget.
- Good Experience in Product validation and testing (DV / PV) of automotive products
Education and Knowledge
- BE/ B. Tech (Mechanical / Electrical)
IPC -620 B Certified will be added advantage
