Job Description
Responsibilities:
- Build, mentor and manage a team responsible for smart mechanical design applied to innovative antenna solutions and deliver to market on time with dialed in cost.
- You and your team will directly own the design and analysis of mechanical systems and components ensuring compliance with product performance requirements, industry standards and regulations across the lifecycle from initial concept stage to mass production.
- Ability to influence cross-functional teams, including product management, project management, RF/Antenna engineering manufacturing, operations and quality to optimize product design for manufacturability, cost and quality.
- Assess risk and compliance across areas of accountability.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance mechanical design process, tools and methodologies.
- Manage and enhance proto shop capability with the help of technicians.
- Facilitate travel to plants or others as needed to support customer issues as well as meet program milestones.
- Mentor interns and junior engineers to build a robust talent pipeline and help cultivate talent.
- Ensure concepts re-use best practice technology whenever possible by aligning on the long term product roadmap.
- Innovation mindset to further our technology roadmap. Provide deep technical guidance and work with external partners as needed to bring up forward looking technology.
- Demonstrated results in driving efficiency and productivity in an organization.
Requirements:
- B.S. or M.S(preferred) in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- 6+ years of experience in managing or leading a team with proven experience bringing best in class devices/novel antenna solutions to market as well as hiring and growing talent.
- 15+ years of experience in mechanical design and development for various form factors. From ultra compact ear worn wearable devices to high gain antenna panels/batons.
- Solid understanding of product development process. Use the first principles approach to resolve deep technical challenges to unlock innovation.
- Hands on experience with CNC, tooling, molding, stamping, plating, assembly and dies.
- Expert level proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD modelling tools such as CREO/SolidWorks or similar. Hands on experience with simulation tools (FEA) and analysis techniques.
- Crisp communication skills to present to leadership and stakeholders as needed.
