Quality & Reliability Technician - New Product Development

Job Overview

Due to steady growth and new products development, we are looking to add 3 new Quality & Reliability Technicians to support the New Product Development team in Plymouth, MN, for our medical business unit. Our cutting edge technology products make difference every day whether it's a simple medical procedure or complex surgeries saving people's lives. 


We are open to consider candidates with a degree and limited experience, however an ideal candidate will possess at least 1 to 3 years experience in a similar role, and will have at least a HS diploma or equivalent., and will have passion in writing technical documents and understand importance of regulations and compliance matters. This is a 1st shift opportunity, and non exempt position eligible for overtime. 


Day to day duties will include but not limited to:

  • Investigate failures with the project team and support resolving these failures with implementing corrections and where feasible with actions that prevent recurrence. Documenting these resolutions through conducting root cause analysis. 
  • Follow up on these investigations and implementation of Corrective Actions for in-process and customer complaint issues.
  • Support all QA related documentation activities, ensure that changes to production or process documentation is processed appropriately, and supported through the appropriate controlled change process. 
  • Work within the project team in establishing production testing and any process control plans and ensure that any in-process sampling is performed, tested and included as part of the manufacturing record.
  • Support functional area validation activities, ensuring that validation jobs on SAP, as well as any associated documentation, is controlled and managed to completion. 
  • Participate/drive quality improvement projects/activities.
  • Have a knowledge of the regulatory requirements that are expected of a medical device manufacturing area, which will assist in providing a support role for internal and external audits, that assess the NPD project team and the site procedures relative to SO and FDA requirements.
  • Support improvement projects and initiatives that may be needed to aid in the development or improvement process for a product’s manufacturing i.e. Kaizen, Lean Principles, etc.
  • Other tasks as directed by the functional area Quality team in line with company goals and objectives.

What your background should look like:

Basic Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Degree in Science / Engineering / or related fields or 4+ years of relevant experience in lieu of degree.
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience in a medical device or regulated manufacturing environment.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • An understanding of the medical device industry and importance of regulatory compliance or expectations (FDA 21CFR820 and ISO13485) is desirable.
  • Experience in applying product inspection techniques and knowledge of root cause analytical and problem-solving skills is an advantage.
  • New product introduction and manufacturing process transfer experience desirable.
  • Demonstrated excellent organizational skills, and ability to work on initiative but combine this with an awareness of appropriate escalation is an advantage.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills essential.
  • Computer literate, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
