Job Overview
TE Connectivity's Manufacturing and Process Development Engineering Teams significantly impact LEANPD driven new product development projects, driving for excellence in existing manufacturing technologies and methods and striving to implement new manufacturing technologies to provide improved process and tolerance control. They act as the binding element between product development and manufacturing engineering, ensuring the effectiveness and efficiency of this critical interface. They support Product Development in the optimization of designs and piece parts for manufacturability by realizing sample tooling/products/prototypes. They also design, develop, and qualify tooling and processes to meet TE quality and production standards, document all processes and tooling in applicable TE systems, support supply chain to verify supplier compliance and capability, initiate and implement programs to continuously improve quality, cost and cycle time and adhere to all appropriate specifications, regulatory requirements and customer requirements.
What your background should look like:

Essential duties and responsibilities (other duties may be assigned as needed): 

  • Plan and coordinate resources to drive improvements through proper problem solving and project management using the various industrial engineering and TEOA methods and tools. 
  • Implement improvements through lean manufacturing methods and systems such as Manage for Daily (MDI), A-3 Problem solving, visual standards, standard work, 3P, Kaizen etc. 
  • Facilitate TEOA Kaizen events throughout the sites.
  • Develop Lean Leaders and other personnel around lean manufacturing, problem solving, leadership and Kaizen process to further drive the TEOA improvement philosophy to all levels of the organization.
  • Active involvement in the training process and assures that training is carried out within area of responsibility.  Encourages direct reports to make suggestions to improve the production process by leading and/or participating in Kaizen events, listening to suggestions, and promoting two-way open communications among employees, co-workers, peers and management.  
  • Responsible for maintaining a safe and healthy work environment by adhering to established safety practices as well as actively participating in safety committee meetings. 
  • Ability to deal effectively with difficult issues when they arise.

Specific Skills and Competencies:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving ability.
  • Time & Motion studies.
  • Lean Manufacturing Transformation practitioner in areas such as 5S, standard work, cell design, quick changeover (SMED), 3P, Value Stream Mapping, Mistake Proofing, A-3 Problem Solving and Project Management.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to influence, motivate, train, and lead employees.
  • Must be able to have flexible hours when needed to support off shifts.
  • Strong desire to work in a team-oriented environment.

 Job Specific Training required within first six months of commencement:

  • Lean Leader skills development such as A-3 Problem Solving, Kaizen facilitation, SMED, TPM, Mistake Proofing and Change Management.
  • DMAIC Six Sigma Master Black Belt (optional.)
  • Process Improvement Management.


  • 4 Year Industrial degree or equivalent proven industrial engineering experience.

Desired Experience:

  • 3-5 years of experience as a lean change agent and practitioner in a manufacturing environment
  • 3-5 years of experience in Industrial engineering.
  • Knowledge of Medical GMP and ISO requirements.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office computer software applications  
  • Knowledge of Statistical Process Control.
  • Practical transformation experience in TPM, pull systems, Six Sigma.
  • SAP enterprise system preferred
