BU / FUNCTION DESCRIPTION
Transportation solutions BU makes products for Connecting and Sensing Data, Power and Signal for vehicles ranging from Two wheelers to Heavy Commercial trucks. TS India operates out of 2 Manufacturing plants in Pune, Sales offices in Pune, Noida and Chennai and a Global engineering team in Bangalore. The total team strength is of 3,500 employees. There is a clear business strategy till 2025 to support the business growth.
ROLE OBJECTIVE
The Position to lead a team of Mechanical Engineers and Technicians of the Operations team in upkeeping the equipment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Equipment Maintenance: Conduct routine inspections and maintenance on SPM’s to ensure they are in optimal working condition. Ensure KPI’s like MTTR and MTBF as per the target taken.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve mechanical issues and malfunctions promptly to minimize downtime. This includes analyzing and repairing mechanical components. Diagnose chronic machine failures and perform "root cause" corrections, often involving the fabrication of custom parts or hardware adjustments.
- Repairs and Upgrades: Perform mechanical repairs and upgrades as needed, keeping abreast of technological advancements to recommend and implement improvements.
- Precision Maintenance: Execute teardowns, repairs, and preventive maintenance on a wide array of small mechanical tools and high-precision components. Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to extend the lifespan of mechanical assembly parts and reduce the likelihood of unexpected failures.
- Small Tool Management: Oversee the inventory, calibration, and sharpening of specialized tooling, ensuring all equipment meets tight tolerance standards.
- Safety Compliance: Ensure that all mechanical systems and maintenance activities comply with safety standards and regulations. Implement safety measures to protect personnel and equipment.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed records of equipment maintenance, repair work, and replacement parts. Keep an inventory of spare parts and order replacements as needed. Create schematics or updated CAD drawings for any "in-field" modifications made to standard equipment wherever required.
- Collaboration: Work closely with other maintenance teams, engineers, and departments to address mechanical maintenance needs and provide technical support.
- Machine Modification: Design and implement physical modifications to existing machinery to increase throughput, safety, or reliability.
- Emergency Response: Be available for emergency response and repair in the event of equipment breakdowns.
EDUCATION/KNOWLEDGE
- Technical Degree B.E – Mechanical
- Knowledge in PLC control would be an added advantage
CRITICAL EXPERIENCE
- 12-14 years of experience working in medium or large matrix organizations.
- Hands on Experience in in high speed & high Precision SPM maintenance and trouble shooting
- Experience in header assembly machines, fast and high precision Automation machines for Automotive industry is preferable
- Mechanical and Pneumatic systems trouble shooting and design skills
- Experience in EOL testing, like leakage, Electrical tests, AOI(Camera Vision inspection)
- Updated knowledge on statistical process control systems.
- Small Tool Expertise: Deep familiarity with pneumatic tools, hydraulic actuators, and precision hand tools.
- Technical Proficiency:
- Ability to read and interpret complex mechanical blueprints and assembly drawings.
- Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD) to design modifications.
- Manual machining skills (lathe, mill) are a significant plus for creating "one-off" correction parts.

- Overseeing maintenance goal setting, activity scheduling, and performance management to ensure measurable goals, goal satisfaction, and effective staff performance management.
- Supervising and implementing continuous improvement projects to improve safety, quality, and efficiency through Kaizen, 8D, and Lean Six Sigma methodologies.
- Overseeing preventive and condition base maintenance targeting to achieve maximum availability of equipment and zero production downtime.
- Developing and publishing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to correctly utilize and maintain facilities throughout the unit.

Generally requires Bachelors degree in appropriate field with a minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible professional level experience; Masters degree or higher or local equivalent may be preferred at this level
