Job Overview

TE Connectivity's Manufacturing Engineering Teams are process leaders for stamping, molding or assembly related topics, ensuring the processes are running at optimum levels for quality and output. They are experts in mold tooling, die tooling, machining, and assembly techniques, possessing extensive knowledge of the associated manufacturing processes which may include the optimization and standardization of stamping / molding / assembly or other processes within the manufacturing environment. Manufacturing Engineering Teams enable the TE business unit plants to reach TE Operating Advantage (TEOA) requirements, roll out Centers of Excellence (COE), Best Demonstrated Practices (BDP’s) and advise plants on tool and machine duplications / corrections / improvements. They design and develop manufacturing process and automation platforms and apply them for the realization of new product developments as well as optimization of existing products already in production. The Teams also support Product Development in the selection and optimization of tools for piece part production and the selection of the most suitable manufacturing concepts relative to planned manufacturing quantities, quality requirements and manufacturing location. They act as interface between engineering and production to ensure manufacturability of new designs and smooth production ramp up as well as support the research & development teams to produce sample manufacturing equipment, product samples and prototypes.

Key Responsibilities

•    Participate in research; design, plan and conduct experiments; build prototypes and/or samples; plan and coordinate evaluation runs; test materials; monitor pilot runs as assigned by engineers/ CI teams.
•    Design, establish, and analyze experiments in support of engineering or manufacturing operations.
•    Work with teams to plan and collect data for problem solving or process improvements; assist in resolving problems.
•    Support the teams in the day-to-day identification and resolution of production issues.
•    Equipment troubleshooting and repair
•    Will lead projects and provide technical guidance to other team members
•    Demonstrate a primary commitment to patient safety, product quality and compliance with the Quality Manuel and its governing regulations.
•    Need to be able to troubleshoot and diagnose issues with equipment.
•    Locate sources of problems by observing mechanical equipment during operation.
•    Working with maintenance, maintain equipment.
•    Scheduling, setup and running of production and prototypes to customer specification.
•    Categorize and escalate issues to appropriate resources.
•    Support engineering work related to design, procurement, fabrication, installation, documentation and qualification of manufacturing equipment, tooling and fixtures.
•    Identify and implement cost improvement projects.
•    Work with technical team members (cross-functional and multi-site to deliver technical support to extrusion projects)
•    Provide effective Engineering support to production including troubleshooting problems and influencing key decisions.
•    Train, mentor and provide direction to Operators.
•    Author and route deviation authorization and change plans.  
•    General support for all extrusion manufacturing and development activity.
•    Other duties as assigned to business needs.

What your background should look like:

•    Experience as a maintenance or engineering technician in a manufacturing environment preferred 
•    Troubleshooting skills/experience and mechanical knowledge
•    Minimum of HS Diploma with 5 years of relevant technical experience.  2-year technical degree preferred or equivalent experience
•    Minimum 1-year experience with electrical wiring and testing
•    Self-starter and willing to take ownership of issues/processes
•    Computer skills, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel required
•    Strong oral and written communication skills
•    Ability to work with minimum or no supervision
