Job Overview

TE Connectivity's Tooling Teams perform the manufacturing functions related to metal working dies and tool making. They are responsible for completing all assignments to construct, modify and condition metal working dies and may fabricate new gages, cutting or forming tools and fixtures by analyzing blueprints, sketches, models and engineering or shop specifications. They perform precision work to exacting tolerances and dimensions; recommend revisions in design and/or substitutions in material based on machinability or fabrication problems encountered; and solve problems relating to unusual materials, machine settings, fabrication methods, and production process. Every team member is responsible for maintaining housekeeping and organization of the work area as well as following TE Connectivity's EH&S policies and procedures.

This position requires access to information which is subject to stringent controls under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or Export Administration Regulations (EAR).

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate proficiency on 4-6 select machines used in tooling (cut-off saw, surface grinder, manual/CNC grinders, lathes, manual/CNC mill, EDM, etc.)
  • Work under minimal supervision, acts independently to determine methods and procedures on new assignments
  • Apply advanced skills in area of specialization, adapts procedures, techniques, tools, materials, and equipment to meet special needs or new designs
  • Clean, sharpen, maintain, inspect, and modify tooling & machines as needed to support the changing workloads in production
  • Visualize and comprehend the best matching practices necessary to complete a part
  • Produce quality component parts in conformance with engineering by reading blue prints, interpreting shop math, and running operations on various machines
  • Perform first piece inspection using micrometers, calipers, height indicators, etc.
  • Hold tight tolerances for critical components using various gaging equipment
  • Troubleshoot issues and work with appropriate resources (i.e. Engineering, Supervisor, Inspection, etc.) to resolve production related issues
  • Exhibit flexibility, understanding, and willingness to change priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Operate precision measurement devices
  • Perform preventative maintenance and tooling conditioning

 

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma required
  • Successful completion of a Tool & Die Apprenticeship program preferred
  • 8-year minimum work experience required
  • Strong mechanical ability and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to multi-task between shop and production duties
  • Embrace lean manufacturing strategies (5S+1, quick changeover, standard work, etc.).
  • Standard EDM experience is a plus.
  • US citizen or perm legal resident required.
