Senior Project Manager Engineer

Job Overview

The Sr. Project Manager will plan, execute, and control the development of new products and processes. This involves pursuit of achieving flawless launches following the TE internal LEANPD new product development process; i.e. delivering projects that are on-time, on-budget, and meet performance objectives. This role will interact with global stakeholders and the successful candidate will be able to effectively communicate and motivate local and global teams, influence global stakeholders (TE internal as well as external customers), and enable projects to be profitably developed and successfully deployed.

Responsibilities
  • Overall responsibility for successful project(s) execution to meet the project charter(s).
  • Process: follow LEANPD process and control documentation including design and development history.
  • Leadership: be a role model for TE project members as appropriate and represent to our customers a person with the highest integrity, a positive attitude, technical competence, a strong work ethic, and a high level of project management professionalism.
  • Cost control: manage the project capital, expense and resource expenditures to stay within budget and ensure that the financial returns are maintained. 
  • Communications: develop the project communication plan, lead weekly project reviews with customers, hold periodic internal project reviews as needed, report project progress, and manage and influence stakeholder expectations. 
  • Planning: Lead and develop effective project plans including the core areas of project integration, timing, costs, risk management, communications, project quality, human resources, procurement planning, and scope.
  • Risk management: effectively create, monitor, and control risk management plans.
  • Customer management: perform integrated change management control including establishing the change management procedure, maintaining the risk register, and getting payment from customers for agreed upon changes.
  • Capacity planning: develop and maintain capacity plans at the global assembly level to the component level.
  • Technical leadership and problem solving: create and maintain a technical team environment (including customer technical resources) where decision points are quickly identified, reviewed, analyzed, and decisions made while building teamwork and commitment to the project while maintaining the project schedule.
  •  Economic analysis: conduct as needed analyses in support of project control, alternatives evaluation, variance analysis, cost calculations, etc.
  • Involve Operations team in a variety of quality/cost improvement projects driven by the Engineering team
  • Must be able to interface with external foundries on a regular basis
  • Resource management: effectively lead project teams and allocate resources as needed.
What your background should look like:
  • Master's degree (engineering or technical preferred)
  • Project management experience with progressive responsibilities may be considered in lieu of education 5+ years preferred) under one of the industry quality management system (CMMI, ISO-TS, AS9100).
  • 3+ years experience in sensors products desired
  • Project Management Professional certification a plus (PMP)
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Must be able to effectively work with people of diverse cultural backgrounds
  • Strong aptitude for problem solving
  • Able to work effectively under pressure
