Job Overview

TE Connectivity’s R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams conceive original ideas for new products, introduce them into practice. They are responsible for product development, and qualification from market definition through production and release; assist in the qualification of suppliers for new products to ensure suppliers deliver quality parts, materials, and services for new or improved manufacturing processes; conduct feasibility studies, testing on new and modified designs; direct and support detailed design, testing, prototype fabrication and manufacturing ramp. The R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams provide all required product documentation including, but not limited to, Solid Model, 2D/3D production drawings, product specifications, and testing requirements. They create and modify detailed drawings and drafting or conceptual models from layouts, rough sketches or notes and contribute to design modifications to facilitate manufacturing operation or quality of product. Typical fields of expertise include: materials, mechanics and systems, electrical, optics, chemistry, software, automation systems, packaging, testing and measurement, and manufacturing of electrical, mechanical and electronic components, products, and their integration into systems.

 

Performance of material tests and reporting

Area of application: Components and products of cable connection systems

- Testing of material properties (thermoplastics, silicone, rubber, composites) for new developments and modifications
- Qualification and requalification
- Carrying out measurement orders according to internal and/or customer requirements
- Assistance in determining the cause of material failure
- Collaboration in the updating of test specifications

- Preparation of tests based on specifications and technical requirements
- Independent planning of the timing of the tests
- Sample preparation and test execution
- Reporting

What your background should look like:

- Apprenticeship as Laboratory technician, Technical assistant and/or similar

- A chemical/physical background is preferred; experience with plastics testing is an advantage.

- Proficient manual skills in assembling and adjusting examination equipment
- Strong understanding of the electrical, physical, and chemical properties of plastics, including their analysis and characterization methods (e.g., DSC, TGA, FTIR, rheology, tensile/break elongation, artificial aging)
- Expertise in compounding and processing techniques such as extrusion and injection molding for thermoplastics, silicones, and rubber
- Ability to develop and evaluate detailed work instructions
- Keen awareness of safety protocols
- Demonstrates high initiative, excellent self-organization, resilience, and adaptability
- Proficient in both written and spoken German and English
- Enjoys collaborating with colleagues from diverse specialist fields within an international setting
- Eager to learn and navigate complex internal procedures
- Skilled at explaining complex topics in clear, accessible language
- Provides support in implementing and managing laboratory safety initiatives
