Job Overview
The Organizational Laboratory Manager (m/f/d) bears global overall responsibility for the operation, further development, and governance of the high-voltage laboratories. The purpose of the position is to ensure efficient, safe, and quality-oriented laboratory operations in alignment with corporate objectives, regulatory requirements, and international standards (e.g. ISO 9001, ISO/IEC 17025).
The role plays a key part in shaping the strategic direction of the laboratory landscape, promoting innovation, digitalization, and standardization, and continuously developing the organization.
Job Requirements
- Overall responsibility for the organization, management, and continuous development of the high-voltage laboratories, including budget planning, resource management, and financial controlling
- Close collaboration with local laboratory managers to ensure fulfillment of tasks and objectives
- Establishment and maintenance of a global high-voltage laboratory organization and ensuring effective cross-site collaboration
- Strategic planning and execution of internal and external laboratory assignments, product testing, and investment projects from a global perspective
- Ensuring a safe laboratory environment and compliance with all occupational health and safety regulations in close cooperation with local laboratory managers
- Leadership and development of all laboratory teams (laboratory managers, test engineers, team leaders, cable technicians, and support functions), with a strong focus on diversity, capability building, and professional development
- Ensuring compliance with all legal, normative, and internal company requirements, particularly in the areas of occupational safety, quality management, and accreditation
- Monitoring and continuous improvement of quality management systems (e.g. ISO 9001, ISO 15189, ISO/IEC 17025) and laboratory processes, including audit preparation and execution
- Promoting interdisciplinary collaboration with other departments, external partners, and international teams
- Documentation and communication of laboratory services, results, and improvement measures to relevant stakeholders
- Implementation of new technologies and digital solutions to increase efficiency and ensure the future viability of the laboratory
What your background should look like
- Completed university degree in a scientific or engineering discipline, ideally electrical engineering or a related field
- Several years of relevant professional experience in laboratory or testing environments, preferably in high-voltage technology or comparable industries
- Proven leadership experience in an international and intercultural environment, with strong capability in managing distributed organizational units
- Project management abilities including task prioritization, resource allocation, and deadline management
- Comprehensive knowledge of quality management systems, accreditation standards, and relevant regulatory frameworks (in particular ISO 9001, ISO/IEC 17025)
- Strategic and entrepreneurial mindset, strong decision-making and execution skills, and excellent communication and assertiveness
- Analytical and structured working approach, strong problem-solving skills, and an integrative, self-driven personality
- Experience in change and innovation management as well as in the introduction of digital systems or process solutions is an advantage
- Very good German and English skills, both written and spoken (business fluent)
- Willingness to undertake occasional international business travel
