The Account Manager Utility is the outside salesperson building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, serving as their primary point of contact and managing all aspects of the business with a customer in a country or region. Using knowledge of industry, technology, processes, and consultative sales skills to assess and educate customers on value of our business expertise is paramount for the success in this role. Maintaining broad market, competitor and solution knowledge is required to ensure credibility with Customer Executives. The Account Manager Utility demonstrates leadership in successfully driving sales in accounts, building and maintaining enduring partnerships that deliver mutual value and working within & driving virtual and multi discipline teams. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with your key customers.
  • Understand the customer and the customer expectations/requirements.
  • Inspire stakeholders within the clients and drive change with ideas that matter.
  • Proactively bring opportunities, research, and insights to relevant stakeholders.
  • Define a long-term growth strategy that identifies the potential sources of that growth and the specific added value to create a solid project pipeline.
  • Develop and execute the account strategy - in line with customers time to market requirements - to achieve sales targets, foster account growth, and identify new business opportunities.
  • Research and evaluation of customer market activities, internal and external data (markets, competition, technologies, trends) to understand how environmental, technical, political and other business changes will impact customer needs.
  • Provide exceptional customer experience by promptly addressing customer inquiries, resolving issues (such as logistics solutions, quality complaints respond, pricing, safety stock planning, customer service requirements, product developments), and coordinating with internal teams to deliver timely solutions.

What your background should look like

  • Must have minimum a bachelor’s degree in business administration or engineering degree or equivalent level of practical experience. An MBA is a plus.
  • An academic qualification in electrical engineering competence is distinct advantage
  • Minimum seven years professional sales experience, ideally in the energy sector.
  • Strong sales and account management skills, with a proven track record of successfully managing key accounts and achieving revenue targets
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with clients, understand their needs, and build long-term relationships
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities to identify client challenges, propose innovative solutions, and drive business growth
  • Needs a good understanding of technical complexes
  • Optimally have a deep and broad knowledge of Distribution System Operators (DSO) and of the TE Connectivity’s Energy technology and product portfolio such as cable accessories and smart grid solutions
  • High level of written and verbal communication, fluent in German and English
  • Flexibility in working days and travelling
  • Proactive and self-motivated with a passion for delivering exceptional customer experience
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data, extract insights, and make data-driven decisions
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills to effectively prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills to navigate complex client relationships and achieve mutually beneficial outcomes
