Job Overview

TE Connectivity’s Quality and Reliability Engineering Teams analyze the ability of product and production systems to comply with customer and contractual requirements through established reliability factors. They design, recommend revisions and install quality control systems, develop and document analytical methods for establishing reliability of products and their components and conduct analysis on relative reliability with regards to cost, structure, weight, maintainability, facility of production, and availability of materials and equipment. Out teams develop, implement and monitor company environmental safety programs and policies to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental, health and safety regulations and recommend corrective actions if necessary. They are responsible for policies and practices to comply with applicable government regulations and industry requirements related to product environmental compliance, the implementation and management of technical and testing standards and specifications, quality control and reliability programs governing materials, product and processes, resulting in the optimization of material and labor, as well as failure analysis, root cause, corrective action and customer communication.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Administrative and Systems

  • Resolve customer complaints/issues and ensure resolution is aligned with TE processes and procedures.
  • Implement action plans and improve processes to prevent/reduce future customer complaints.
  • Analyze customer data/manufacturing processes to identify possible risks, understand consequences of costs and determine viability of customer partnerships.
  • Communicate with customers and internal groups regarding on customer reported problems and manufacturing quality reported problems.
  • Mobilize teams of direct and non-direct reports to address customer issues.
  • Support development and maintenance of manufacturing process based on Voice of the Customer (VOC) and product engineering information.
  • Process Quality System requests as required.
  • Management of complaint handling customer systems.
  • Monitoring Complaint performance and Response on Time (quality KPIs)
  • Investigations/coordination with problem solving tools (Ishikawa, 5 Why, 8D)
  • Support management with daily actives at the site for scheduling, time and attendance for assigned direct labor within the facilities quality group. Coordinate activities and daily management of the quality engineering staff with dotted responsibility.
  • Lead and Maintain internal audit system the sites business systems (ISO/TL; QMS)
  • Maintain dock to stock database for the site based on product performance
  • Perform as a lead for Internal Audit Team (Conduct periodic Quality System Audits and outline audit plan annually. Coordinate and participate in auditing Corrective Action effectivenes
  • Assist as active MRB member helping to provide disposition of nonconforming material
  • Provide MRB transactions in the Quality Systems database and MRP system
  • Manage and Issue Corrective Actions (CARs) resulting from MRB
  • Coordinate the SPC program and reporting for the site
  • Responsible for the compiling and presenting of quality analytics for the site (Basic statistical analysis - Pareto, Trends, Charting/graphing/metrics)
  • Monitor internal/external DPPM & cost of quality, and drive the continuous improvement plan.
  • Facilitate quality meetings with cross function teams and managers to monitor the progress of continuous improvement.
  • Support internal lean projects as planned.

    Education and Experience Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or technical field and/or relevant quality experience is required.
  • Experienced in Quality Control metrology (utilizing data acquisition techniques is a plus) and working understanding of GD&T as defined by ASME Y15.5-2009 Standards
  • >2-5+ years’ experience in manufacturing/process/quality engineering environment.
  • CQE or equivalent experience preferred
  • Good knowledge of statistics and strong analytical skills-Green Belt/ Black Belt a plus
  • Knowledge and experience in use of Quality tools (6-Sigma, Product compliance, LEAN manufacturing, Quality standards, and Project Management skills).
  • Experience in new product development initiatives and design reviews (good understanding of manufacturing processes, plating, tooling and/or precision screw machining is desirable)
  • Experience in Quality Planning Process (PPAP) and control plans
  • Experience in Continuous Improvement philosophy and methodology (Root cause and problem solving)
  • In depth knowledge and experience in ISO9001 or TL9000 or AS9100 Compliance Standards
  • Strong computer skills (Access, Excel, pivot tables, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
  • Statistical Process Control knowledge with hands on implementation preferable
