Job Overview

The Continuous Improvement Lead will be responsible for the development and execution of a Continuous deployment plan for the SubCom manufacturing operations and supply chain organizations.

She/he will apply the lean knowledge in all operations areas, such as production, quality, material, maintenance, environment, safety, purchasing and others to address improvements in the service model and productivity across the business.

What you will be doing...

  • Understand SubCom market dynamic and translate future trades to operations decisions across the operation, using Continuous Improvement program as platform to drive improvement in safety, delivery, quality and gross margin.
  • Execute a comprehensive strategy/plan for the operations organization, highlighting milestones to achieve a world class operation, through the deploying of Continuous Improvement programs.
  • Work close to plant managers and function operational leaders to recommend and implement necessary changes in the organization structure/capabilities in order to achieve specific service models for different aspects of the organization.
  • Drive energy about the future state of operations and get the right engagement to execute necessary improvements.
  • Execute the chosen priorities for Continuous Improvement as well as influence in the definition of operational targets.
  • Execute in a disciplined way, organizing short Kaizen projects, as well as medium and long-term improvement projects, which will drive service model and gross margin improvements across the sub vertical footprint.
  • Lead cross functional improvements initiatives, integrating supply chain, quality, EHS functions to plant management towards a single goal to establish a world class operations footprint.
  • Challenge, coach and support plant managers and teams to meet Continuous Improvement targets.
  • Holds people accountable for accomplishing plans, eliminating “turn backs” and fostering teamwork.
  • Be recognized as a master in collaboration across boundaries, transferring best practices among the business and partnering with leadership.

What your background should look like...

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field, Master's Degree preferred.
  • DMAIC Six Sigma Black Belt
  • 10 to 15 years of relevant professional experience with focus on production, logistics or industrial engineering.
  • Previous experience leading and transforming operations at multiple sites or value stream level is essential.
  • Strong background in lean practices, experience in using value stream mapping and implementing lean tools, such as:  5S+1, Visual Factory, Standard Work, Quick Changeover and TPM essential.
  • Experience training others in the sue of lean tools and concepts, required.
  • Must possess strong problem solving skills, utilizing a proven structured, disciplined approach (A3, 8D, 5P, etc..)
  • Excellent communication and coaching skills at all levels from the shop floor to top management, including the ability to speak, read and write fluently in English.
  • Strong team leader, ability to think strategically and execute tactically to deliver results
  • Analytically, data-driven and problem-solving mindset.
  • Ability to have a holistic overview of complex situations and flexibility to deal effectively with difficult issues when they arise.
  • Working knowledge of the manufacturing processes such as plastic molding, stamping, roll forming, welding and extrusion.
  • The role has a heavy emphasis on supporting and coaching Plant Managers and Operations Leaders and influence Functional Leaders to ensure significant improvements in the operations metrics.
