Job Overview

TE Connectivity’s Engineering Project Management Teams manage cross functional engineering projects. They work with Product Management, Sales, Quality, Manufacturing, Finance, and other functions across TE to assure projects meet financial, schedule and customer expectations. They are responsible for defining and creating project schedules, portfolio management, communication and execution of programs, identifying resource constraints and working with management for resolution, while adhering to LeanPD processes.

Position Overview

The Facilities Engineer provides design, construction, commissioning, operation and maintenance support of plant mechanical systems, HVAC systems, clean rooms and buildings.  This position also supports cable manufacturing operations by ensuring that all needed utilities and environmental requirements are being met.

 

Duties and Responsibilities (*Indicates an Essential Function)

  • *Prepares final drawings, specifications, and cost estimates of various facility projects.
  • *Coordinates work of maintenance and/or subcontractors to ensure adherence to schedule and project specifications.
  • *Analyzes existing mechanical systems to troubleshoot problems and improve operating efficiencies (i.e. reduce operating and maintenance costs) and improve reliability.
  • *Designs and directs the planning of equipment layout, installation, modifications, and contractor/maintenance requirements to implement facilities changes.
  • *Develops implementation schedules for activities relating to facilities modernization; directs activities ensuring minimal production/operation delays or lost time; coordinates schedules and activities with appropriate department managers.
  • *Performs studies to promote greater cost effectiveness and efficiency of facilities utilization; investigates need for facilities and equipment; estimates costs, prepares justifications, recommends make/buy decisions.
  • Provides design assistance for mechanical, electrical and HVAC projects.

 

Qualifications

  • BSME or equivalent degree in Engineering.
  • A minimum of 8 years’ related experience in a Plant Engineering / Facilities Engineering environment.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical and clean room operations; construction knowledge desirable.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and AutoCAD; 3D modeling experience a plus.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and spec sheets.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
